Cleaning product advice needed My new puppy is not quite house trained, and he’s ruining my floors! I’ve got hardwood floors with oriental rugs. Oriental rugs are really hard to clean, and I’m afraid I’m going to ruin them. The smell is terrible and I just want a clean house again. Can anyone recommend a solution? Help! Don't allow him run of the house. For the time being, you might have to take up your oriental rugs until he's reliable and confine him to one room with puppy pads unless you can be right with him. Get a blacklight to locate the spots and apply Nature's Miracle to them. It'll remove the smell where the dog can't even detect it. Unless you clean every spot, he'll go there again and again. So it's imperative that you do this. DO NOT punish him for weeing on your floor unless you catch him in the act. When you do, a firm NO! and immediately take him outside is most effective. Praise him like he'd just won the lottery when he tinkles outside. |
I have the same problem, I actually get down on my hands & knees & smell for the pee spots as I can't away see them (good idea blacklight) I did try the Nature's Miracle to no avail, so what I found works better is sunlight laundry soap liquid I pour it on and leave for a while then I have the pet bissel rug and floor cleaner and spray water and suck it up. The smell of sunlight still there and the dogs have bother with the throw rugs. By the way the Nature's Miracle discolour my oriental rugs, so be careful. |
I think the black light idea is great. I have done some research on stain removal products and have tried many. I have heard of Nature's Miracle before but I have also been trying this stain removal product. It has pretty well. I just want to know if others have used it? |
just put the rugs away for a while. I also have hardwood floors and rugs. put the wee wee pad always in the same spot. put him on the wee wee pad when you think he is about to go (that is always after eating, right after he wakes up in the morning or after a nap, when you see him smelling and going in circles) so when he finally does it in the pad praise him a lot and/or give him a treat. he might still have accidents, when that happens just ignore it. no attention at all to the bad accidents just praise the good moments. it takes a while just be patient. to clean I use Lestoil, you can use that for the rugs too. just a little bit for the water for the hardwood floors though. In every room of the house I have the automatic airwick sprays or plugins. I also like the clorox (traditional manual spray) it really kills the odors. hope it helps |
