which salmon oil to feed my yorkie? I heard salmon oil might help yorkie grow nice hair. I would like to feed my yorkie but there are so many different products of fish oil. Any idea of which fish oil is better? |
There's all sorts you can choose from. Some members on here sell it also. I buy Salmon Oil from OnlyNaturalPet.com Only Natural Pet Pure Icelandic Salmon Oil for Dogs & Cats It doesn't smell like fish, so that's a plus. I've only used it for a couple of weeks so I'm not too sure how well it works for the coat... I've noticed her dry flaky skin has gone down a lot though. |
Salmon Oil 1 Attachment(s) I give jack Nordic naturals Artic Cod Liver Oil it has Omega -3 supplement and he gets it every day. Its peach flavor. I have a Oral Mediciation syringe (small and he gets 1-ml) I have noticed his skin is better and the groomer make a commet that it looks better. Hope this helps Cheryl |
I use Sea Pet because it also contains Vitamin E....I've read a couple of articles that says the body uses up vitamin e when processing the omega 3's so adding some back into the diet is beneficial..... Omega 3 Fish Oil with Natural Vitamin E by Sea Pet 8 oz., Dog Vitamins & Supplements |

I use Ark Naturals Royal Coat as I wanted a fish oil, but I also wanted a particular fatty acid called GLA - which is found in borage oil (and other things). This oil also contains vit A/D/E. |
I'm going to try Holistic, nutritional health diets for your dog, cat, horse, pet. it wounds really good and I emailed the company they say they only add the vit E everything else comes from the fresh wild salmon. |
I always used Grizzly Salmon Oil for my babies but stopped when I switched from RAW back to dry kibble because they wouldn't eat their dry kibble with the Salmon Oil on it. I just ordered a pound of the Seameal (Solid Gold) so we'll see how that goes - it is supopsed to work WONDERS for babies with allergies (like my Tatum) :) |
thanks guys. I think I am going to feed my baby some of my salmon oil capsule. I am still wondering how to feed. With capsule or without ? |
I either "poke" or cut a small hole in one end of the capsule and gently squeeze the oil on to the food. The capsule is digestible but it's easier to give your little one the oil mixed in with the food. |

"Borage seed oil is derived from the seeds of the Borago officinalis (borage). It is used medicinally as an anti-inflammatory, for treating arthritis, as well as certain skin conditions (e.g. atopic dermatitis) and respiratory inflammation.[1] It has one of the highest amounts of gamma-linolenic acid (omega-6) of seed oils - higher than blackcurrant seed oil or evening primrose oil, to which it is considered similar. GLA makes up around 24% of the oil typically. A specific extraction process may offer purified products with 50%+ GLA content." As for her liver, I'd love to answer that for you - but I'd run it by her vet. I would guess that since she can have oils in general, however, that borage would be okay...but I'd double check. :) |
