Carrier sizing I know that carriers are rated for weight but I was wondering what you measure on your pup......should they beable to stand or just lay in the carrier and do you measure from their neck to tail or from tip to tip...I was just wondering. Thanks |
i was wondering that too great question |
I have a couple of carriers and what I look for is room for the pup to stand upright and to be able to fully turn around and room to just lay and be comfy which doesn't take a lot of room because they just curl into a ball! I am going to order the black Chien carrier from Petsmart. it looks like it will be roomy enough for a 3lb pup. (I have a feeling Chewy is now close to 3lbs  ) |
I have 4 carriers and all of them I purchased based on weight capacity. My little Chi weighs 4 lbs, and all of them she can move around in. But I think it would be more based on what you need it for. For example, if you are flying, you do want to make sure they can lay down and turn around completely. If it's just for shopping, etc. mostly its that the neck opening isn't too high for them. Usually when shopping they stand most of the time with their head out. Hope that helps! |
