The reusable pee-pads I have read some posts on reusable pee pads made by one of the members of yorkietalk and I was just wondering how many of you use them? How well do they work? Would any dog go to the reusable pee pad and use it? Would the dogs think it is a bed or is there like a special scent on them to make them know that it is a pee-pad? How long do they last? I am considering to buy one since I too use pee pads and I have been buying packs and throwing them away after use so they do kind of get a little pricey after awhile... and I am a student so I want to try and spend a little less... Do you suggest I get one? Right now I am using the pee-pads that have scents of grass, and supposedly they are supposed to attract the dog to go pee on the pad... I guess Choco is more attracted to peeing there than the regular pee-pads... Should I stick to one kind? Is it too late to change the pee-pad to the reusable one, since Choco might be confused? Thank you all for your advice  |
Is your pee pad always in the same spot, and does Choco use that spot pretty frequently? If so, I don't think it would be a problem to switch if you put the reusable ones in the same place. I am anxious to get some reusable pads as well (from LittleBit) but I just need to save up some more money first! I've heard some people have problems with their furbabies going on ANY cloth on the floor including rugs, so I've bought a pee pad tray that I'm using for Layla's disposable pads right now. Since her pee pads are white, she also will go on anything white. We had a white little rug in front of our kitchen sink and it was always covered in yellow spots.. gross! Anyways, since getting the tray I'm hoping she is going to relate the tray with going to the bathroom, and as long as there's a tray around it it's okay, and if there's not a tray, don't pee! |
I hope more people answer this. Its a good question. I'm not sure about these but interested in hearing more about it. I'm hoping people that have used them will answer you. Good luck with the decision, the cheaper price is a good thing now days, we need to cut the corners we can. |
I got the reuseable pee pads and my fur babies love to sleep on them. I removed the disposable ones and then they went on the carpet for the first time! The never peed on the pads. I even had them in the spot the disposable ones were always in. Now the pee pads are used as crate liners  Maybe mine were just to old to change. :( |

Will Never Use Throw Away Pads Or Newspaper Again!!! My 5 Yorkies use washable pee pads from PersonallyPaws Washable Housebreaking Piddle Pads & Belly Bands I have 6 of the solid color Blue Indicator Pads. They use the pee pads when they can't go outside. I have trained puppies on these smae pads. We had 2 Yorkies come over recently to visit & both used the pee pad & had never used them before at their house. I didn't buy the patterned print pads because I didn't want them to be confused & think it was a blanket. I spray the pads with Simple Solution Potty Training Aid when I have a new puppy to train. I will never go back to throw away pee pads or newspaper EVER Again!!! I invested about 50 to 60 bucks & thats it. Lori is out of blue pads right now, but she will have some soon. |
I switched from disposable to washable pads (by Little Bit--I highly recommend them) and had no trouble. I keep their potty area in the corner and for a few days I put a disposable on top of the washable and then removed it. They had no problems going on them. Hallie is 6 and Simon is 4 and they have been pad trained forever. We even have a social group about them http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/group.php?groupid=10 |
I use the reusable pads made by littlebit. I put them in the same place that I had the paper ones. Initially, I put a disposable on top. This got the girls used to going on the feel of the pad. I eventually was able to take away the paper ones and use only washable. I tried the Potty Training aid spray. Gracie just rolled on the pad sprayed with it. She got euphoric from it. I did not have any luck with it getting her to pee in the right spot. Dogs go potty based on the feel of what is under them, the location and the smell of the area. Consistency is key. |
I have the ones from Lil Bit as well. And they're so much better than the disposable ones. Bella took to them right away. |
I keep my pee-pad the same place. Its always in my bathroom, and when Choco is kept in my room, he will go to the bathroom and pee. But when he is let out in the living room, he will go pee out there randomly... I am afraid, Choco might think the reusable one is his new bed or something... |
