topknot bands What is the best thing to use for topknot bands. (elastic, rubber) and what size? I've seen several types of small bands in the hair section of Walmart and wondered which type would be best based on user reviews. Also, where do you get yours at? I have some bows that I would like to clip onto the banded topknot for easy removal at end of our outings. Thanks |
I really like the grooming bands from Des at mygofetch.com, they don't pull her hair out like others. |
I have gotten some at Petsmart, but I can't find them anymore so I usually just get the little "Ouchless" kind from walmart, the tiniest ones there. They're not as stretchy as the grooming bands from Petsmart, but they still work. I just wrap them twice around Layla's hair (it's pretty thin though), and they're super cheap so it's no problem to just cut the elastic when it's time to take them out so you're not pulling and breaking the hair. |
I just ordered some from Des. I'll see how they work when they get here. Thanks. |
A great trick is Slick Bands - you can find them at Sallys for like 2.00 for 100 :) |

they are the Proclaim brand - bright lime green label with red & blk wrighting. They say professional braiding rubber bands. Super Stretch - Soft & Springy - Will not break hair - pack of 500 for 1.29 :) hth -KimberlyAnn |
Woodpecker's has great grooming bands. They are usually a vendor at many of the shows in this area. They are latex bands, and are made to not break the hair. Woodpeckers - Grooming supplies for the professional - 1-800-597-6342 The best size is M MW 5/16'', and they come in many colors (I get clear). You get 1000 for $12.00. Also, a tip: keep the bands in the refrigerator, and they will stay stronger longer. Latex breaks down over time and weakens, and keeping them refrigerated slows down the process. |
We get ours from the dentist. The orthodontist bands medium size. They're free so at the end of the day we just cut them off and toss. |
Oh happy to hear you ordered from Des. I have tried so many and they are by far my favorite ones for Mia's topknot. They do not pull as much hair as the others do and they are super easy to use. |
