Bows..how do you get them in???? Maximus REFUSES to let me put them in....how do you guys do it???..any advice will be greatly appreciated!!! |
A wish and a prayer helps a lot! :D It takes time and patience. I find it was easier to place Schatzie's top knot bows in when her hair became long enough to hang on to and have something to work with. If Maximus keeps moving around and such a "stay" command might be helpful and give lots and lots of positive praise and maybe a treat when you are done. Hang in there, you will have it down in no time at all! :p |
Does it hurt them???....he keep turning his head trying to bite the bow....meanwhile I have a chunk of hair grabbed and then he shakes his head and it's a disaster... |
Schatzie is right - patience and start slow and be gentle - I started Cheri off with a little looser bow so she didn't freak and gradually she let me do anything...It helps to remember TOO tight will hurt and TOO LOOSE will fall or flop around - so a middle area is best when starting them out - Mine both get their hair done EVERY single day - they learned that it's just something we do and actually seem to enjoy it now - but it wasn't like that at first !! Good luck - another thing I do with Cheri is use tiny scrunchies - they're really easy to practice on.... |

We did it half way..lol..not as perky as you guys gets your bows..his looks kind of limp and sideways..but it's a start..lol..I will keep trying to get better so he can wear them and look as good as your dogs!!!! |
Maximus is beautiful . Instead of a bow , have you tried to place only a elastic band to get him used to have something on his head . I always start my puppies with band first . |
That is a good idea....I am actually going to Target today so I will pick some up..the bows that I bought from Brosie..have elastic bands with the bows attached..but I think the fact that he can see the bow is what is making him soo curious...lol |
Glad to hear that I am not the only one who has difficulty here!! I do our gil's hair every day too, sometimes it's quite good, other times a disaster!! Ana xx :aimeeyork |

i just recently started putting clips in brownies hair everyday and he doesnt mind why dont you give him some to eat while your doing it like when were cliping kayko nails we give him nutrical and by the time hes done eating it his nails are all cliped good luck and post pics when you get it in :D |
Mag's groomer gave me this tip. Put the hair up with one band, then put the bow in, making sure that the bow band is over the first band. Works great. |
Try and get anything in his hair just to get him used to it. There are even those clips that you bend open and closed that you might be able to get in quick. The way I hold Reagan when I put in her bows helps, I believe. I will sit on the floor or bed with my legs open in a "V" then put her between my legs facing away. Then I cross one front in front of her kind of like a half indian style. She will usually end up putting her chin down on my leg and wait until we're finished. This allows me to kind of hold her in place while my hands are free to put her hair up. It just takes time to get them accustomed to having you mess with their hair like that and also to wear something in it. Eventually he'll get used to it. Good luck and keep trying. |
