[News] Vanessa Williams' Yorkshire Dog 'Enzo' is Missing CHAPPAQUA, N..Y. -- The pet Yorkie belonging to actress-singer Vanessa Williams is missing. The dog, called Enzo, disappeared from her Chappaqua yard Monday, becoming the second pooch of a high-profile owner to go missing from northern Westchester since Mother's Day. While Williams raised concerns that there's some sort of dognapping ring, Mount Pleasant Police Chief Louis Alagno suggested another theory, that coyotes are snatching the bite-size pets. Alagno says coyotes are common and they prey on small pets. Williams filed a missing-dog report with Mount Pleasant police Monday after she came home from an errand to find her black and tan Yorkshire terrier missing from her fenced-in yard. Another dog, a blond dachshund in Yorktown that ran away on Mother's Day, has also failed to turn up, despite the work of a pet detective and a publicist. Owners Ken Chandler, former publisher of the New York Post, and Doctor Erika Schwartz, an author, have appealed to newspaper and T-V reporters for help locating their missing dog, Gus. They've offered a $2,500 reward. original article |
It's all over the News Stations. Let's hope that baby is found quickly. They showed her picture and she's a beautiful little baby...... We are having a coyote problem right now in New Jersey. Closer to Papi they just had a coyote attack 2 children and someone lost their chihuahua to a coyote there. Just have to be extra careful and never let them outside unattended or off leash. |
This is so sad!!! This goes to show you that you can NOT leave a yorkie unattended outside!!!! When will people learn??? Praying this baby is safely returned home! |
Wow, I had no idea they have coyote's in Chappaqua, N.Y. and New Jersey. I thought they were only out west. Those poor little dogs. :( |
oh my goodness !! Poor Miss Williams i hope that they find Enzo soon !! :( |
How sad. Makes you realize just how lucky people have been on here to get their lost babies back. |
Coyotes are everywhere. We had them in NH and here in NY--- they are right here in our back yard. I go out for our last walkie at 11ish PM and I always scope the yard first and carry a bat. |
It's too bad that her little Enzo is missing, but I agree people need to be more careful. With any luck, it wasn't the coyotes and they find Enzo soon! |
Poor Enzo. Its strange that she'd leave him in her yard, when she wasn't even home... |
thats so sad...i hope enzo is found...and returned to Vanessa Williams |
I hope they find him safe and sound! We live in a small community on a golf course and we have coyotes as well. I NEVER EVER leave my babies out unattended. They are too precious to me and I don't want them to go missing whether it be human or animal! |

i saw it on the news last night and my first reaction was to scream at the tv... why did you leave your baby outside and go somewhere you idiot!!!!!!!!!!! i never leave lexi outside by herself and deceide to go anywhere from my home.... people just dont listen until its too dam late!! and if it were coyotees and she was home, she probably would of heard something or saw something... or at least be checking on him.. that poor baby, i feel terrible |
Poor Baby, how stupid to leave a little one outside alone !:( I am allways, allways out with mine and on the other end of their Retractable ! And then i watch as we have Hawks and Coyotes out here ! |
So sorry I hope they find her soon. But when you live near the woods you must be extra careful. Up here in Maine we need to be careful that we dont lose them to prey.:) |
Where I live in IL we have them also. We have to watch out for hawks and the big owls. |
I really hate to have to say this but what kind of a MORON leaves their dog outside alone when they are not home....it is very dangerous to leave a dog outside alone when you are at home. Some of these people have everything in life except for BRAINS!!!!!!!:( Tina |
unfortuantely, coyotes are a very real threat for wee furbabies. I have to be careful letting my guys out at night up here on Lookout Mountain. Coyotes are terrible. We tend to use the fenced in back yard at night instead of going to their usual daytime spot in the front yard. Hawks are another problem up here. |
Any update?:( |
Vanessa Williams' dog Enzo is FOUND!!! Actress Vanessa Williams' missing dog returned; more details expected By SHAWN COHEN AND ROB RYSER THE JOURNAL NEWS (Original publication: June 8, 2007) MOUNT PLEASANT - The town's top cop is expected to explain in more detail later today the circumstances that brought the missing celebrity pet Enzo back to singer and actress Vanessa Williams. But police Chief Louis Alagno said the return of the black-and-tan Yorkie that went missing from the actress' fenced yard on Memorial Day proves two things. Number one, the disappearance was not the result of a celebrity dog napper in northern Westchester, as some have suggested, the chief said. On Mother's Day, another celebrity pet - a blond dachshund named Gus - ran off the leash of former tabloid publisher Ken Chandler, and has not been seen since. That incident happened in the Teatown section of Yorktown and prompted the owners to hire a pet detective and a public relations agent to find him. Then on Memorial Day, Enzo went missing as Vanessa Williams was running an errand. "I don't know anything about celebrity dog stalkers," the chief said today. "Her dog is back and we're just tying some loose ends up to determine why or how the dog disappeared." The second thing Enzo's return proves is that the 1-year-old Yorkshire terrier was not snatched by a coyote, as the chief himself had speculated shortly after Williams filed a missing dog report. All police were saying about finding Enzo was that he was dropped off at a shelter. |
I'm so glad that she got her baby back. Hopefully this will teach her not to leave him unattended outside for any reason. Honestly, doncha wonder sometimes about people who have pets and don't know how to take care of them properly??? Anyhow, the real thing I wanted to say was that even if you have your dog on a leash, a coyote can take off with it. It happened here, in a relatively well-populated area. A woman was walking her Jack Russell terrier puppy and a coyote ran up behind them and snatched the dog away, pulling him out of his "collar", as the newspaper said. Of course, we here, wouldn't just attach a leash to a collar to walk our babies, would we:thumbdown , anyhow, but still....you can just never be too careful, especially during pup season; mom coyotes have to feed their babies, and with the environment and weather conditions like they have been, along with depleting their environments, we see them more frequently in places they didn't use to be. I would totally decompensate if my Max was taken by a coyote:cry: |
I just find the comment "dropped off at a shelter" interesting. I wonder if that means whoever took him realized that the media attention was such that they had to give the animal up, OR if the dog got out of her area and someone found him? |
