My miniature Poodle sleeps with me. She has since she was a puppy. When I get a Yorkie he or she will sleep with me also. |
My babies sleep in their own beds which are on the floor right beside mine. I have occassionally tried sleeping with my babies through the years but I just can't get any rest for fear of crushing one of them! |
No one sleeps if Louie doesn't sleep When we brought louie home I tried to crate train him. Well he was having none of that. I bought him a special doggy with a heatbeat. All he did was cry all night until someone came downstairs and slept with him on the couch. We tried the crate in our room but he still seemed to cry. Well after about 4 weeks of no sleep, It was like having a newborn. My husband decided to bring him to bed with us. I was so scared because our bed is so high. Well that little boy came up and kissed me on the hand and snuggled next to my leg and slept through the whole night. Now he sleeps with us every night and everyone sleeps!!! So do we have a dog? well I say No.. I call him my little kid.. Loved and very spoiled. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |

my hubby was determined not to let them in the bed and NO WAY on the sheets.. welllll, hopey changed that... she wiggles under the covers now, ON HIS SIDE! HAHA.... gota love them babies... |
lol, this thread is too funny! We crated Valentino for the first two weeks, but now he sleeps with us every night , and he knows when the lights go out , it's bed time. he curls up right under my arm, and sleeps the whole night, and waits till i take him out in the morning. and sometimes when hes really skwirming around i put him on the floor, and an hour later he cries to come back up, and how can i resist |
I never even tried to crate train my Murfee. He has slept with me since day one. He has never had an accident on the bed. He is the boss so my husband and I do what he wants. I am having surgery in May and will be in rehab for 3 weeks...don't know what Murfee or I will do. He's my baby!!! |
Not anymore Izzy used to sleep with me for about a month. Now he's in his crate at night. I couldnt take the getting up and walking on the bed thing at 3am! Especially on worknights!! :p He whined when I started putting him in the crate but now he's fine. He still kind of gives me the look like, "dang I wish I could sleep there"...hehehe:D |
You got too be KIDDING I would not have my 3 babies sleep nowhere else but with me or one of my children or husband. They are clean happy and a big part of our family. If you truly love you pet you wouldn't even dream of doing what they really love doing being a part of your heart and soul. My Clhoe, Venus and Midas sleep with me and everyone knows they come first. Just looking at them I would never call the dog whisper and what report that they are in control LOL. Please anyone that doesn't like a animal in the bed I think they are better then some people. They don't ask for much space and don't hog the covers etc........ this is the way I feel on this subject. Susiezeus,Clhoe,Venus,Midas and the rest of my family |
Well, I guess Im the oddball out of the group. I love him to death, but it just doesnt work out for me. |
Different strokes for different folks Nah ur not the oddball we all have our own ways that work for us. Personally my Bebe sleeps with me and my husband but on my side. At first it was "we may squish him" but not a chance -he climbs right under the covers and sleeps right next to :animal36 :animal-pa my belly. He teases Daddy and will snuggle with him for a while and then comes back to Mom. He gets up promptly when we do 4:15am to be walked and if we are sleeping in on the weekend he hops on Daddys head and licks his ear until he gets up and walks him...teeheehee wouldn't have it any other way:):) :artist: |
Teagan sleeps with me! She does have a way of hogging the bed, though - I guess I've just gotten used to it. :heart to |
Just like most vets recommend science diet (which I won't fee).........I don't care what a behavorits has to say about them being in charge.......lol I would never throw my cat and 2 dogs off the bed.......he is ludicrous  |

Jessy, uless you have experienced a problem your should'nt say this. Buddy has slept with me since he was 1yrs old. He is a very good boy however he did something very frightening to me, not once but twice. He attacked me in bed during the night and wanted me out! Yes, it is strange but it did happen. He is now banned from the bed forever and will sleep on the floor in his bed for the rest of our lives. Not all dogs are the same. I have no idea where it came from but believe me it will never happen again. Unless your dog experiences domanince behavior at times, someone who has never had to deal with the problem should never LOL about it! People forget that Yorkies are still just dogs! |

I am so sorry if my post offended you. :( I understand your reason and you are right........'unless I have experienced a problem I shouldn't have said anything'. The thing is, I haven't experienced a problem and until a problem does happen to us personally.......I would say otherwise. It was my personal opinion and it I am not looking for anyone to agree with me. While I may not do what others do........I respect it and wouldn't want to try to change their minds. I still stand on my opinion........and will continue to sleep with me and hubby on the bed until there is a reson not to. I am so sorry Buddy did this and I am truly glad you are okay. Everyone has to do what works for them not what the 'norm' seems to be out there. I never crate trained mine........I don't believe in them (doesn't make me a bad person). They do have their own room and space though. When they need to be 'crated' they go in there instead.........no behavioral problems here. While this may sound crazy to others........it's what works for me and my family. Again, I am so sorry to have stepped on your toes or hurt your feelings. Sometimes, it's best not to try to take things personally.......especially if a post was not directed at you and it was a personal opinion. Afterall, it the world wide web.......I wasn't literally LOLing. Thanks for the advice though.........I will most definitely keep it to myself and in mind. I thank you for it too. I am done with this thread and posting personal opinions. Good luck, Jess |

Jess, No offence taken at all. I just wanted to say that this issue is a real one for many and unless you personally experience it there is no way you can understand it. Yes, I find it very strange that a loving well trained dog could go crazy just because it wanted to protect something but it does happen. Scary also to be at the other end of a mouth full of teeth when they actually belong to you own pet. I have learned so much from YT and it certainly has helped me understand more about not only Yorkies but dogs in general. Who ever thought that raising them was so much like raising children. |
full bed is a cozy bed! my bed is a queen size and 7 bodies occupy as follows; me on the left and daddy in the right. snuggles curles by daddys tummy and snitch goes under covers. spyro stretchs in the middels and my older kitty bopper is at my feet while my lil kitty buttons is on my head. and its like this everynite:D. im a light sleeper and when they are not with me i swear i here all sort of things happen and stay up checking on them all the time. |
My pets have always shared a bed with me. The cats come and go as they please. My dogs only get onto the bed with an invite. My dogs are polite while the cats aren't. |
Rosie sleeps by me, but if she's moving too much then I put her in her crate. Also, I put her in her bed when she was wetting the bed. ewwww.... She likes her crate , but I feel like something is missing when she's in her there. |
Hey! hey you all have cute dogs and i have to sleep with my dog every night or i wont be able to sleep and neither will she..the bad thing is that every morning she wakes up early and cries to get on the bed, then cries to go back on the floor repeatedly also i have had her for 9 mos already and she wont eat out of her bowl! its driving me crazy she will only eat if i feed her with my hands |
from the day i got Sunnie he has slept with me, the night i got him i made a bed out of the cushons of my couches and slept on the floor with him and then when we went home ( we were at my dads) he slept in the bed with me. its not unusual for me to go to bed with three cats and Sunnie, i miss them when they arent there. i have always had a animal sleep with me once growing up a cat layed on a pillow and i rolled over and layed my head on him and lsept that way the whole night:) |
2 Attachment(s) This is a great topic ! Yeh, my three Yorkies sleep in bed with me and my Hubby ! TARA "the queen" was our first, and I just wouldn't have her anywhere else ! She wasn't having it any other way either, though, as we say, she has "no springs" being that wee and short legged - that we have to lift the queen into her bed - which she would stay in 24 hours a day if she had her way ! When she gets too hot, she crawls out and goes on top until she has cooled down, and then back under again !!! Tara then wants to be a "sporran" as we call it (scottish kilt bag)as she gurns over Kenny's neck until he lets her jump over him and down to his nether regions !!! (the warmest spot for the queen !) We worried when getting our next two if they could cope with my big Kenny(hubby) in case he squashed them - but no, Casper licks Kenny to death, "he does his duty" as we say....he lies over his throat and smiles and licks him to death, then and only then will he go under the covers for the rest of the night. He will stand ANY amount of heat(well he's a skinny wee mannie)and goes between my hubby's legs ! Tammy only being with us since last October has only just realised that Tara won't kill her if she too goes under the covers at times. But when my hubby is home from night-shift or on days off, she sleeps like a helmet over the top of his head, and cleans her big puppy (my hubby)to death frequently through the night ! NOW THAT WOULD ALL BE ALRIGHT IF IT WASN'T FOR THE FACT THAT MY HUBBY IS A BOILER IN BED !!! Therefore can you imagine the heat he gets into with all three dogs hogging his warmth (I am always cold, so they only come to my side if he is away on nights and the blanket is on, lol)....and he starts moaning in his sleep trying to oust all the covers and the dogs who are boiling him up even more, ha ha ha ! And as for Nooky, well Tara starts growling and scrubbing against us, Casper starts to lick bits he shouldn't, and is told to - - - - - - off, and Tammy stays glued to Kenny's head ! It's a nightmare ! They actually put you off having any fun !!! I wouldn't throw them out of the bed for anything though ! Kenny and I have just realised that we no longer get a good sleep and only get half an hour here and there - because they either wake you up when they are to-ing and frowing, or they want you to get up as they think it MUST BE BREAKFAST TIME ! .....a whole hour early !!! They love nightshift, as they are in bed all night with me, and point blank refuse to leave Kenny when he comes home to his bed and I am getting up. They actually know when I am getting up and make a run for it and dive under the covers before I can get them ! If I then call them to come with me, there is a deathly silence - THERE ARE NO DOGS IN THIS BED ! - and if I try to go under the covers and get them they are not amused ! Casper once growled at me from between Kenny's legs when I went in to drag him out....the cheek of it ! (He was awful sorry though, lol) ARE THESE YORKIE TRAITS DO YOU THINK ?:D I call them BEDBUGS !!! DEBRA:animal-pa PIC 1: CASPER smiling at Kenny PIC 2: The terrible trio : TARA, CASPER, TAMMY |

1 Attachment(s) This was taken Sunday night after we had spent walking around lower NYC for six hours. Of course Milo was carried in a bag for most of it which is why he's awake and I am not. Now throw the other two cats in there as well as The Hubster and you have the complete picture. :p |
When we brought home our first little furbaby he slept with us, then we got our second little furbaby, she started sleeping with us also, then we added two more adult furbabies in one weekend, so we had 4 in bed with my husband and I. Well, my little babies all slept curled around me, I had Prissie on my head, across my neck or on one of my shoulders, Kylie somewhere at my feet, Might in my back, and Miko in my stomach, I ususally could not move the whole night. They never bothered my husband, so when we decided to add another furbaby to our bunch, I decided it was time to have them start sleeping in their room, as I was already waking up with back pain or a stiff neck. They have a whole bedroom to themselves, it has a loveseat with pet stairs, 5 pet beds, some of their toys and of course water; this is where they stay when my husband and I go to work during the day. It took a few days for them to get used to it, but they did, sometimes I still let them sleep with me, maybe once a month, everyone's happy. |
sleeping My maltese slept with us for 15 years and was a great bed partner, didn't even know that he was there. My yorkie, I don't think so, she is too small and my husband is 6ft 190 lbs, plus, she still poops at night. What ever makes all of you happy is what counts. |
Yes sleep with them I have slept with Mim's since the day I brouht her home. I went to Petsmart 3 week ago because she was having her surgery. I purchased her a small bed and removed the pillows on the left side and she sleeps there now. It's just a pink bed says cutie in the center;) and she loves it when it is time to go she just sits there for me to pick her up. I have just ordered some steps for her, my bed is too high for her to jump on. But I am so happy to have her I will let her do anything she wants:aimeeyork |
Sleep 1 Attachment(s) Tinkerbelle used to sleep with me but it always made me nervous as I was afraid I would roll over her or she would fall off the bed. Problem was solved one day when I was checking out some yard sales. I found a crib on wheels. It is perfect as I can place it next to my bed and it moves easily for house cleaning. Since it was so low and she could not see me I placed 3 bed pillows on top of the little mattress and then placed her little baby quilt on top of the pillows and voila a bed made for a little princess. She loves it as she can nest and move around at will. She has never tried to jump out of it. If she needs to go potty during the night she will talk (not bark) to wake me up. She makes a funny little noise till it wakes me. She is too funny. In the summer time I put a nice cool cotton sheet on top of her pillows to keep her cool. My little girl sleeps well and so do I knowing she is safe and comfortable. I know a crib for a dog seems a little over the top but it works for me and Bella. :D Jay |
Full Bed Syndrome Our bed is full of furbabies also. Two and I'm considering a third. Anyhow, Jazzy, a Westie, has slept in our bed for three years. We adopted Pixie, a Yorkie, in September 2006 so she sleeps with us also. After my husband leaves for work the girls really settle in. They sleep on each side of me where they snuggle and snore until I wiggle out. Neither one can jump on the bed so I put a plushy chair with big cushions at the foot of our bed so they kinda climb and climb until they get on our bed. It works fine and we didn't have to buy steps. That's how they get down also. They won't sleep in the bed unless I do and it has to be bedtime. During the day they have their own beds for daytime napping. Sometimes Jazzy gets fed up and goes into the closet and sleeps. Pixie is not allowed in there. I guess it's just Jazzy's room. She fusses if Pixie tries to go in there. Dogs...I sure can't live without them. :animal36 |
