Has any one else read it? I would like to recommend a book I got from your country and wondered if anyone else has it.It is called people I sleep with by Jill Fineburg and the foward is very emotional I cried and cried when I read it. |
That sounds like a book I would enjoy reading. :aimeeyork |
Whwn we got Andy, the conversation went as follows: David (my husband): Where is he going to sleep? Me: On our bed. David What? Me: Not IN our bed, ON our bed. David: I have never had a dog sleep on my bed? Me: Well, then where will you sleep? Andy got on our bed, spent 60 seconds. Looked at us under the covers and decided that was a far nicer spot. He snuggled under, looked up at David with those big beautiful brown eyes and he has been there for 9 years - with the exception when he was recovering from his attack. Boomer came along and he took the other side! Now we wake up when they are not there and wonder what is wrong!! |
We just recently purchased a king size bed. The three dogs that sleep with us (2 minature dachshunds and a 14 pound yorkie) and the cat had all the room and we had to sleep on the edge. Who is in control here? lol |
end of bed To overcome the possition in the pack issue we follow a few simple rituals, the dogs can come visit us at the top of the bed while were awake, then when its time to sleep the rule is dogs foot of the bed. This shows them they arent king or queen dog in the pecking order, as the covet the top of the bed.If at anytime someone is moving or wandering, and its just annoying and keeping us up, intot hier sleeping crates. They know that queen dog mommy will evict them if they don't stay put, and if they arent at the foot of the bed, behind my knees is alright, but any furthur up durring sleep time is eviction. This gives them a chance to be with us, but also shows them they have to follow rules set by us.It works anyways. |
1 Attachment(s) A pic of mine in bed. The only time she get grumpy is if you try to get her up before she's ready to get out of bed. She sleeps longer then I do..lol |
Hmmm, I don't think Mac or Mellie would even consider sleeping on the floor. |
All 3 of mine sleep with us - and way,way before the yorkies came into our lives, we had a doberman and he slept with us, believe it or not. We all managed and I agree, I couldn't sleep well if they werent there with us. Evey sleeps up against my back (I sleep on my side mostly), Rocco sleeps in the back of my knees where the legs bend and Maxx cuddles up against the bottom of my feet- I'm not kidding and its a perfect fit.:D |

Harley sleeps with me every night. :p My fiance sleeps on one side of me and Harley gets the other! I don't see anything wrong with letting your dog sleep with you, if they are well trained and don't act like fools on your bed at night. Something to consider, though: Harley is two years old and weighs 4 pounds; My breeder suggested that I teach him to NOT jump off the bed. You don't want a teeny Yorkie to hurt themself by jumping off the bed and accidently breaking something. I was able to teach him to just stand at the end of the bed and give me a small bark when he wants down. He's a good boy! :) Enjoy all of your sleepy babies!! |
I have a bed full. All four sleep with me, when it's time to go to bed they will beat me to it. I don"t sleep well unless they are all in bed. In winter Lucky my chow-mix will sleep in bed too. |
sleeping in the bed My Sebastian sleeps with me every night. When I first got him, he would sleep in his bed beside my bed and wake up around 2 or 3 and bark until I got up to put him in the bed with me. I tried to put him in the kitchen to see how long it would take for him to calm down. Absolutely miserable. He couldn't sleep and neither could I. Now, I guess you can say he got his way because he won't even sleep in his bed anymore!! Although, I will say that even though he is not fully potty trained, whenever he has to go in the middle of the night, he jumps off the bed and goes on his pad that I leave for him in my room. (He is a little over 4 months old) The very few times I want to have company, he does cramp my style a little but other than that, he is a joy to sleep with!! I am hoping as he gets older, he will get come into his own and want to at least start sleeping in his bed again. |
Best thing we did My 5 month old sleeps with us and it has been the best thing we did! We have had him 8 weeks (he was 15 weeks old when we got him). The first 6 weeks we put him in his kennel at the foot of the bed and he hated it! I was up 1 to 2 times in the night taking him out to go potty and now he sleeps through the night and will even snuggle for a while before I take him out! It's great! Titus' mom |
My boys do NOT want to housebreak at all, BUT once in bed, they never pee in the bed! I say to them 'Wanna go to bed?" and their ears go up and they look at me with so much excitement and then they bullet up the stairs to the bedroom and jump on the bed. One sleeps b/t my legs under the covers, if its really warm he'll sleep b/t my legs on top of the covers. The other one starts out near my head on a pillow, then moves to under the covers, when I wake up itss usually open my eyes to his eyes looking at me square in the face from about 2 inches away... wet kisses and he crawls under the covers curled up next to me until its time to get up! I really do not think I could sleep without my boys there! They are BBBAAADDD though!! We are all heavy sleepers... they don't hear a peep and sleep right through the night usually! God forbid there is a fire or someone breaks into my house! |
My Three Sleep With Me They All Have There Spots And We Get Whats Left They Have There Day Time Beds But When It Comes To Nite Time They Beat Us To Bed I Am So Used To Them There I Dont Think I Could Sleep If They Werent |
