It's a home invasion caught on tape and the brazen robbers are looking for one thing only -- dogs!

The victims breed Yorkshire terriers, and had placed an ad in a local Los Angeles paper, offering Yorkie puppies for sale for $2500 each.

The family was worried about a robbery occurring, and a week earlier they installed a video camera in their living room, and the entire incident was caught on tape.

The robbers came in at 10 p.m. pretending to be customers interested in buying the dogs. Suddenly a gun was drawn, and the family was ordered to lie on the floor as one of the robbers grabbed the puppies and cruelly stuffed them into a black bag.

Kelly Lee showed INSIDE EDITION how she crouched down as the robbers commanded, clutching her beloved pet, to her chest.

The robbers stole 4 purebred Yorkie, including Kelly's pet, Tan-ja, who tried to run away, but was caught.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery. Now Kelly Lee and her family hopes the release of the surveillance video will help get their dogs back.

I just received the video of this in an email. The poor little puppies are running around frantically to get away from the robbers :eek: That just breaks my heart :(

I saw this earlier and it just makes me sick. My question, though...why do they have a camera in their house?

To ward off any thefts of their puppies. It seems as though the ladies breeding has increased and her investment needed to be monitored 24/7. But In all honesty what breeder shows dogs at 10pm at night.. HELLO thats trouble just waiting to happen. And she highly advertised her pups in LA and for 2500. first , only a coward would hold a gun to a human being... secondly, only a coward idiot would do it on camera..third, only a lowly, heartless, coward idiot would steal puppies. what lazy couple of low lifes these 2 are! I will be glad to see those two jailed for a much longer time for being dumb enough to use a gun. if they didn't have a gun they probably would be out in less than 6 months. I saw that same video tape several times on different news casts today. Someone must recognize these poor excuses for human beings! What is most upsetting is they collected those tiny little puppies in a plastic garbage bag...they didn't even have a box or pet carrier. Any potential buyer should have come prepared with a blanket, carrier, something.... And I agree with what was said my another here; what kind of person shows their puppies at 10:00 p.m.? Commentators where saying that anyone selling something that valuable should probably meet the potential buyer in a neutral and public place. Like what safe public place can you take a puppy? Any suggestions on that?

Really very upset with the robbers! They SICK people. Putting the dogs in a garbage bag, ohmygod! at a loss of words right now.

I read this in an earlier post and it said that she had been in contact with these "men", but she wouldn't give them her address, until they were in the area. They had a time set up for something like 7:30pm, but when that time came around nobody showed up. She had other things to do and when they arrived later that night, she told them it was too late, and that's when they pulled out the guns.

From the video though, that doesn't look like what happened. It looked like they just barged on it with their guns pulled.

I could not believe it when I head about it. It makes me teary eyed watching it seeing them trying to run away.

I'm with everyone else that video is heart breaking. I think I would have been shot before they took my pets. I pray that the puppies and mom are ok.

I saw the tape on the news last night and it brought tears as to how heartless these punks were. Stuffing them in a plastic bag. I hope they can retrieve the puppies and the mom.

You know I was thinking some of the same questions, Who shows a puppy so late at night, Well, guess what, I had someone come over at 9:30 last night. The woman got off of work late, they lived an hour away and then got lost, I thought they weren't coming and then I got a call from the front gate (live in a gated community) What should I have done? Sent them home? So I understand that, but I do not understand a camera in the house, unless they really expected to be robbed??!~?:confused:

I believe they said the "buyers" showed up 2 hours late ... and she did not want to buzz them in, but her dad had already done it from another room.

no one "asks" to be a victim ...

did the article say she was selling the pups for 2500$ or did it just say the pups were worth 2500$?

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Four purebred Yorkshire terriers stolen at gunpoint during a home invasion robbery more than a week ago were returned to their owners after a man turned himself in to police.

Three puppies, valued at $2,500 each, and a full-grown family pet named Tan-ja were reunited with their owners at the Wilshire Division police station Saturday night.

One puppy remained missing, police said.

Family members hugged and kissed the panting pups and left the police station with the dogs in their arms.

The animals were recovered after Ryan Betton, 19, of Los Angeles, surrendered to police Friday night, Detective Luis Corona said.

He was booked for investigation of residential robbery, police said.

A videotape of the robbery that aired on local television brought in many tips, including telephone calls that sent police to the home of Betton's father, Corona said.

"When the son came home, he confronted the son and that led to the son being brought in to the station to turn himself in," Corona said.

A second man was being sought.

The puppies had been advertised for sale in a newspaper and two men posing as buyers made an appointment to see them on Feb. 23. When a family member opened the door, one of the men pulled a gun. The men ordered the family of four to lie on the living room floor.

A home surveillance camera caught the scene as one man held a gun and the other chased after the puppies with a plastic garbage bag as they scampered around the room and underneath a coffee table.

He snatched one of the dogs from a woman's hands.

No one was injured.

Corona said before they were returned, the dogs were found in several places, including Long Beach.

Authorities believe the robbers didn't intend to sell the dogs but probably wanted to give them away as gifts, Corona said.

An LAPD official did not know if Betton had legal representation.

Wonderful news I read it earlier, so happy for an happy ending. At least the guys dad was decent and had his son turn himself in.

Am I the only one who is a little bit sceptical? Install cameras inside and out just before this happens? Let someone in that looks like that? and at that hour? I guess in my "old age" and after seeing so many people lie and scam, I have become very "untrusting". Seeing parents come on television because there children have disappeared, only to find out, it was the parents that did something to/with the child. There's a lot of crazy, deceitful people out there these days. Sorry, but to me this was kind of a hmmmmmmm??? :(

Glad I was wrong this time and the puppies were returned.

Thank God they were found! I pray the other puppy is recovered to his rightful family soon!!! What a blessing to have found these babies!

Any more news and update on this story...hopefully the last puppy is safe...

Were they able to recover the father yorkie ?? i understand that they were able to find all the puppies but they were yet to find the father. :confused: Has there any updates on this story...does anyone knoe ??
