:2omg: I can't image if somenthink like this happen to my Pheobe, when i go out with her like the park etc i take my (big man) husband and even my pepper spray with me just i case. i don't take any chances with her; there is a sign on the park to keep dogs on leash at all time and still you see people not obeying the rules  . Poor baby this really upset me:sickie: |
Afraid to take Abbie for a walk This is so sad. I've gotten so I hate to take Abbie for a walk. We live in a great neighborhood but a careless woman down the street leaves her lab in the front yard to "sun" without a leash. Twice when I've been walking by that lab has come after Abbie. Thankfully, my husband was with me both times and backed him off while I grabbed Abbie. The woman heard me yelling at her dog and came out and I told her what happened...twice!!!! and I could hear her husband yelling from inside the house to get the dog in!. We now go a differnent way but I can't tell you the number of times I've seen dogs out on the front lawn with their owners. They DON'T have them under control. I was at my sons house one day when he was having a potential buyer through so I took his two dogs for a walk in his neighborhood and so many dogs came barking like crazy up to these little 4 foot high fences. I couldn't wait for the walk to end!. Sorry for rattleing on but this is really a pet peeve of mine. |
That is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen! I can't even imagine that happening to my baby:mad: |

How about small claims court ? Did you call the polices and make a report ? These people should surely not get away with the horrors of this. Pit Bulls seem to be as dangerous as wild animals. Something bad is always happening to someone including their owners. It is sad, dogs are domesticated and this breed should not have been perpetrated. I am fortunate to have a porch and I use wee wee pads in the house. I would be much to terrified to walk my Yorkies on a public street. These little furbabies are really not "dogs" and are totally defenseless. Sigh |

I don't know about your furbaby, but my Rocky is all dog! :p So far everyone in my neighborhood has been considerate of eachother. They usually hold back there dog from Rocky, but if the dog is nice then I tell the owner that it's OK. Yesterday we were at petsmart, after the vet, and Rocky met to pyrese mountain dogs. These dogs are huge! The most gentle dogs ever though. Rocky loved them. Now my boyfriend wants a big dog like them. |

Rocky is under 6lbs. Not all big dogs are maniacs. My boxer is actually very gentle w/ smaller animals. If I see a dog is trying to play to rough, then I don't let Rocky play with him. At the vet there was a boxer who Rocky wanted to play with, and the boxer was friendly, but just didn't get that she was much bigger than him, so I took him away from her. But if a large dog is gentle I will let them play. |

Yeah that's true, but any sized dog can get spooked. I've grown up with big dogs, Rocky is my first little dog. My boyfriend wants a big dog. Rocky loves big dogs, he's OK with little ones, but rather play with the big boys! You just gotta take the necessary precautions, which we definitly do. If any dog is playing to rough, or acting vicious then take your pup away, and don't let your pup go up to strange dogs w/o you. I know a ton of bigger dogs that Rocky gets a long with great, and some smaller dogs that he can't stand! And Rocky pretty much gets the clue when a dog doesn't like him. He stays away if the dog is growling at him, or is ignoring him. I don't want to train him to be fearful by picking him up everytime a big dog is in sight. I only fear a bigger dog, or any sized dog (cuz I do know some smaller ones that are mean) if they give me a reason too. BTW, was your little one OK? How do they get along now? |
My heart goes out to this lady God bless her and that poor baby :( makes you want to walk your dog and have a bat or a stun gun when you walk them. God bless the little pooch:aimeeyork |
the one thing that bothers me the most a out this post, despite that the poor darling was attacked, is that the first thing out of their mouths is, "two unmuzzled pitbulls" so a pitbull should be muzzled jusr for being a pitbull? come on, give me a damn break! there are no bad dogs. just idiotic, BAD owners who don\'t provide the proper and adequate training for their dogs when they get them. I didn\'t even let me yorkies get away with not being trained. |
it brought tears to my eyes reading what happened to dot :( it\'s sooo sad - i can\'t imagine anything worse than watching your doggy being attacked like that - those horrible evil dogs should be put down! i hope dot is doing well and isnt left with any permanent health problems. |

Yup, all bully breeds need to be muzzled! LOL. Just kidding, but I disagree with you on one thing, and that is saying that there are no bad dogs. Some dogs are naturally vicious, they can be the sweetest at times, then they snap. This isn\'t the case for most, but it is for some. Of course though, dogs who are vicious should definitly be muzzled when they are going to be around others. |
I feel so sorry for Dot, I hope she recovers with out to much of an emotional scar or her Mommy. I feel bad that a few pits can give all pits such a bad name. I have never owned one but my bother has. One he had for 14 years before he died of health reasons. Dogger was a great dog, my neices would play on him, you could take food/bones right out of his mouth and he wouldn\'t even growl. Dogger was rasied with a family and was very much a family dog. My brother has 2 pits right now. They were his other pits babies. Because I haven\'t been around them much I don\'t feel as trusting of them as I was of Dogger. They are really good girls but I still more nervous of them. I feel anyone that owns a breed that is deemed a dangerous breed should have to have a special licence and mandatory obedience class and advance classs. This is including my brother. They should also have to have a special licence be a proper breeder of these breeds. IMHO Stephanie, Abby:animal-pa & Leo:animal-pa |
