[News] 14 Yorkies Stolen from Breeder Home 2 Attachment(s) WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Rick Alspach cracked open the door to his house Wednesday night after a long day on the job as a construction supervisor. There was no chorus of barking from his 14 dogs. Only silence. Alspach, 43, rushed to his kitchen. Cosette, a 4-pound Yorkshire terrier whom Alspach calls "Momma Dog," was gone. So were her four 3-week-old puppies. Then he dashed to his sunroom, where he saw that a door leading outside had been kicked in, and the crates that held five other dogs — Oliver, 7, Annie, 5, Dodger, 4, Nicholas, 2, and Maggie, 1 — and four more puppies sat empty. "It's like someone came and kidnapped my children from underneath me," Alspach said Thursday. "I'm devastated." Williamson County sheriff's officials said they are investigating the incident. Alspach and his wife, Carmen, who breed the dogs and sell the puppies, spent Thursday making fliers with the dogs' photos and asking neighbors if they had seen or heard anything. They called pet stores and asked if anyone had tried to sell the puppies. The Alspaches had recently advertised to sell the puppies for as much as $2,000 each from their home near Hutto. "I just wish whoever stole them would bring them back unharmed," Rich Alspach said. http://www.statesman.com/news/conten...10yorkies.html |
Omg That is so scary . You have to be cautious in today's world but it is a SHAME! |
That's a darn shame, I bet you it was someone they knew! :thumbdown |
Thats so sad............I hope they find who ever took them. |
I think this is just getting too crazy! The more I read about what people are doing, the more time I would just rather share my company with animals! You know, it could be someone that had been there several times to look at puppies - acting like they were interested in purchasing them. This happened to a friends coworker and they still haven't found her two yorkies. This world is just getting crazier and crazier. If you sell your little furbabies you could always just give a cell number and any meetings could take place elsewhere...but what a pain that would be....and plus, so many people want to see where the babies are being raised (which I don't blame them these days). I don't sell or breed Yorkies (I only have Mojo), but if this keeps up....I think breeders will have to start getting background checks or something.....as soon as they have their first contact (by phone) with a person interested in buying! This is just HORRIBLE! |
OMG that happened 45 min. away from. How terrible. |
That's just plain scary! Another reason why breeders have to be careful of who they allow into their homes to see their babies. We tell people that they need to go to the home and check out the breeder...as a breeder myself, I know that it makes me nervous...cause you don't know who could be checking out your home and what they're capable of doing. |
How terribly sad for this family!!! I can't believe people are capable of doing these things, and they're probably just trying to make a quick buck! Breeders have to be so careful these days...It's so sad. |
How sad. Someone could have read their ad and saw their asking price, and saw DOLLAR SIGNS.. made a call to come look and get their address, and wait till they were gone, and grab em. I said it before, with the prices people are charging and getting out of these dogs it makes them a hot commodity, like when cigarettes went sky high, all ya heard about was people breaking into stores and stealing cartons of cigs. |
That is just horrible. My babies are family members, it is the same a kidnapping and I hope these people are caught and tried just like they were kidnappers. |
That is really horrible. What is this world coming to. I live way out in the country and a lady who lives down the road from me came to my house once and tried to get one of mine from over our fence. I caught her and asked her what she was doing and she said she lost her male and was looking to see if he was in the yard with mine. For one thing anotehr dog can not get in my yard and for the second thing if I would have found a yorkie I would not put it in with mine only because you never know what they could have. Well I told the lady this and told her not to ever do that again....Well guess what I caught her several days later trying it again, I looked at her and told her I had just called the sheriff and I was going to report her. She looked at me funny and left. I did tell the sheriff and they went and talked to her. So I thought ok this is over with ......NOT.......she came back a third time and I went running out my dorr yelling at her, she got in her car and took off. I think if I could have caught her I would have beat the crap right out of her.  Well now our fence is so high you can not reach over it and you can no longer even look in our yard to see the dogs..........Gotta protect my babies..... |

this is sooo sad! :( the family must be devastated. The only question i have is why were they left alone? i mean, dont the puppies need like 24/7 supervision?? im not trying to offend anyone or start anything, but isnt that kind of irresponsible on the owners part? Trust me though, i DO NOT think that gives someone the right to kidnap dogs, by any means. i just think 3 week old puppies shouldnt be left alone. im not a breeder, so i may be wayyyy off and totally wrong, so i apologize in advance if im jumping the gun. this whole story just disgusts me and i hope wherever those puppies are, that they are safe and warm and that they will all live a happy life. |

I honestly think if I could have caught her before she got in her car I would have seriously beat the crap out of her. NO one messes with my babies.... |
dogs nappers I hope the police took finger prints and checked out if anything else was stolen in the house. Because if it was only the dogs. Then someone wanted them to sell or to use them. I really feel for you. I dont know what I would do if that ever happened to me when I had my yorkies. You should check with every one that was interested in the puppies and higher a private eye.
