PETA's headquarters is located here. This story is true along with 100's that never make it to national news |
With all due respect. We love our dog to the extent that we have purchased the City dog license for it which links to all the pertinent data (dog name, breed, owner name, address, phone number, CALL COLLECT, etc.); (b) We had an aluminum dog tag made for about $8 or so that has the dog name and breed on one side and OUR info on the other; (c) we must have our dog vaccinated for rabies regularly and the rabies "tag" also contains all of the pertinent information. If this was the case (I don't know) then the folks that stole the dog from private property were (a) trespassing; (b) trespassing for the purpose of a criminal offense; (c) committing a theft (felonious); (d) pile it on. They should have been charged and punished.... to do what they did was obviously with malice and forethought and probably to meet a quote (be kinda neat to find out). I would waste zero time in filing a civil lawsuit for a whole variety of things, the least of which would be theft and all the laws surrounding same ("trespass with felonious intent?"... varies from state to state). Someone comes up on my porch I'm going to talk if I can. Then I'm going to take action to protect 'a member of my family and myself from imminent grievous bodily harm and/or death and/or kidnapping (dognapping?)'. Doesn't matter. Know your rights and enforce them. Lord knows that law enforcement has enough on their plate and this would be considered a minor annoyance at best. In most states, someone enters a farming operation with such intent and you have the right to use whatever force is necessary to protect yourself and your property. I handful of flowers just does not cut it in my opinion. This is a significant offense and needs to be prosecuted in order to be put to an end. Our problem in North America, and in particular stateside (I am a dualie) is that our laws are not enforced yet the public wants more laws to protect them. Get OVER it! Law enforcement is not here to protect you. It has become a machine and duty belts should be standardized to hold a chalk holder methinks. With all due respect to the many who put their lives in harms way to protect us. At the LEAST, these bozos should have been dismissed summarily and for cause. No separation, just a nice "goodbye" and a footprint on their rear ends. |

Moronic thinking IMHO. The mere action shows criminal intent and that's the fact, Jack. |
Forgive my ignorance what exactly does peta stand for. I thought they protected animal rights. Maybe im getting them mixed up with another group. Obviously their not for animals. |
I am sad that this still hasn't been resolved. At the very least there is discussion of PETA losing their shelter status because they euthanized the dog within three days when the Hold time for that area is five days and because they did not report the dogs pick up to the county which is also required by law in that area (the man did look for his dog but there was no record because it was not properly reported). I am disappointed that the DA did not 'see sufficient evidence' to prosecute and I am very shocked that the PETA organization had refrained from comment as they are generally quite loud. Oh your poor, poor grandmother  |

That's sad to hear. I used to be a PETA member, but I realized their tactics aren't the best. I prefer Mercy For Animals. I do think they still do a lot of good for animals. Unfortunately, not every animal can be adopted and sadly euthanasia happens. |
PETA is REALLY messed up in several ways. The worst was their claim that "Pokemon promotes violence towards animals." In no way has the franchise ever endorsed such a thing and only TWO incidences where a human purposely inflicted harm towards a Pokemon with the human attacking the victim themselves instead of another Pokemon and BOTH times others witnessing the act said how cruel it was. And that is over a twenty year period. Betty White is the ONLY thing I would support from PETA. I mean how could you hate Betty White? |

PETA is extreme and close minded and (to me) violent. Their antics and various acts seem done only to get attention, not really to help animals. They seem ready to, say, destroy a hardworking farmer for inhumane way of milking cows (again acts of violence to stop same...? Uh, what?). But for PETA to steal and destroy a family pet, or any animal for that matter, is just wrong on oh so many levels. I detest PETA and have always detested PETA; their mindset and their aggressive bullying behavior (again, peta is extreme to the extreme making the organization absurd, from what I've gleaned over the years) is the antithesis of what true animal lovers are about. |
How did those Peta people know that the dog they abducted wasn't a rescue? They have no way of knowing anything about a dog by looking at it from a car. Thats the part thats scary to me. If they say they support adopting existing pets from shelters..why, rush to euthanize any animal?!?! There is no logical reason for that at all. Its extremely unlikely that a stray or feral dog would be lounging on someones front porch. My puppy is an adopted rescue. She has no papers and probably is mostly if not all Yorkie. She may be from a puppy mill. There is no clear history about her. I love her, and take care of her as if she were the Best in Breed at Westminster, lol….I don't leave my dogs outside unattended, because its not really a choice. Its a shame that even if I had the choice on my own property I couldn't safely do that for fear of a dognapping by crazies! ugh. |

I would have been in the car right behind the VAN within seconds of seeing them take my dog.... following them to their destination. Once they stopped-THEN I would have shot them- preferably in the behind for being an _______ ( fill in the blank with the orifice normally found in that region) and forced them to give me my dog back. Why did this guy wait? No that it's his fault. But it is a reminder that our furbabies are like toddlers. Especially tiny ones. I wouldn't allow a toddler to play on the porch unsupervised unless it was in a playpen. I am also wondering how the hell Trespassing into someone's yard and stealing their property/dog off the porch can deemed "NOT criminal intent"? ( and they have a VIDEO proving who did it) And then they brought a FRUIT BASKET to apologize (which is an admission of guilt) Then what the heck IS criminal intent? I think the prosecutor in that country needs to be fired. How bout giving that little girl that is so upset about losing her dog a new PUPPY instead of killing an additional dog? Here is the original article PETA Reportedly Steals and Kills a Family Dog|Douglas Anthony Cooper After reading it I can honestly say I will NEVER support PETA again. This is shocking and just unbelievable. |
here is more info, sounds like PETA was stalking this family, and that the family did call as soon as they saw the video. The Theft & Killing of Maya : Nathan J Winograd |
