My dogs love Greenies also, so I was very happy to see that reply from the manufacturer. However, I will not feed my pets raw hide because I have had a couple of bad experiences with that with two different dogs. |
Greenies or eatable chew bones Hi, I read the article about the greenies, and believe it or not I have never heard of these. But I got Zayne some eatable chew bones for Christmas. Is this the same type of stuff? Please let me know so I can throw them away! Thanks |
Thanks THanks to this article Daisy will never see a greenie again. I use to buy them for her because she loved them so much. Since her breath was also bad ocasionally, I stared buying them. Now she will have to go without. I don't know what I would do without her. It's just not worth it. |
I'm glad this thread was revived. Despite the entry on snopes.com, I still think I'll be finding something else for Dolce to chew on. She absolutely LOVES greenies (I get the toothbrush shaped ones), but I couldn't live with myself if something happened to her from chewing on one. I think I'll try the carrots. Can someone tell me, though...do you give them baby carrots, or an actual full-sized carrot? Thanks! |
wondering  I'm wondering the same. Baby carrots or full size? :aimeeyork |
I tried the greenies on mine and it made the majority of them sick. So I threw the rest away.. |
I'd been giving Dayzee a half a regular size carrot every day. She wasn't as attached or fond of the greenies as Bailey was.... he still misses them but I don't want either of my pups being hurt. |
After a bad experience with Greenies and/or Raw Hides, both are banned in our house! Mojo loved both of them, but he is coming around to not getting them. He is very picky (food and treats) so it is hard to find something else that he likes. It is worth the search though....I would hate to think what could happen otherwise! |
Thank you so much for the education. My Zeus is a gulper. He doesnt get any treats like that!! |
This thread may actually deserve a little bump because it is an important consideration. Many years ago now my guy got sick eating these….gobble one up and then threw up…at the time I had a friend who swore by them and since we all know how Yorkies and their teeth are I thought maybe he had eaten it to fast and it deserved another try. Several days later I gave him another…and within 15 minutes up it came. Needless to say that was it. After that I started hearing greenie stories and was grateful that he did nothing more than throw it back up. Still worried about the dental issues I researched and started using the 'Get naked antioxidant dental chews' made w/ fruits and veggies. He loved them and never had an issue with them. |
I am so glad we stopped feeding these and bully sticks. they only get beef wellness treats which I break up into tiny sizes to reward them for tricks. Saddens me that things are sold that in the end are so harmful. |
