Apparently they were bound for pet stores in several states. They were supposed to be put on connecting flight's at Chicago's O'Hare airport. 7 puppies die after flight to O'Hare - Chicago Tribune |

This is so sad. But you have to ask, Why? Why do people do stupid things like this and put the lives of these puppies in danger? I can't believe the almighty dollar means more. Deep down I know it does but I still don't understand. |

I need to play devils advocate here. My brother is a breeder. A few months ago he sent a few of his puppies to me because the buyers were close to me and I could deliver them. He sent them via American Airlines. I was shocked when I went to pick them up none of the puppies had been fed or watered. (I know this because my brother put stickers at the bottom of the food and water containers. No food residue, no soggy stickers.) So while I do not support puppy mills, I think people should consider that perhaps the airline was at fault as well as the breeder... Just my two cents. I know I will NEVER put Cricket on in Cargo and would do my best to talk anyone I know of out of using AA in the future. |
that is horrible! those poor babies:mad: |
OMG, I have often wondered how they take care of the little animals. I cannot even begin to tell you how I would feel if this happened to me. We take such good care of them and expect that everyone is like us. This is an a tragedy and I am sure we will hear more in coming days.:animal-pa |
There should be regulations about temperatures. Obviously it was too hot whilst the plane was sitting on the tarmac. I know puppies have to get from point A to point B but perhaps flying in 100 degree weather in NOT the answer? so sad. |
horrible tragedy, poor babies. we need stricter laws on transporting puppies and kittens. |
So Sad !!!! As a Retire Flight Attend, I would never , ever put my pets in cargo , no way !!!:thumbdown Breeder or any other seller and owner should always travel with their pets. Remember Airlines r cutting cost, so yes cargo is the very first place they will cut off air in a delay, or in holding. I don't travel unless they fly with me inside the cable, or I just travel alone , or drive I will drive with them any time, but never in Cargo. I don't care what the airlines promise u, it don't work like that. What they promise and what they do r two very different things. Yes they will pay u for your loss, but no amount of money will replace my furbabies. Bark@ulater!!!!!! manina, miley and max |
It's not just one airlines!!!!!!!!! Quote:
I love to drive I'm one that would love to drive and pick up or drop off puppies fr ILL to Florida or fr NY to Florida. Cause I'm always driving, But we need to love our animals more and think of what they r going through. I was on a flight 2 month ago and a young lady had 2 , 12 weeks puppy with her and she told me her mother was a breeder and she deliver the puppy, that if it was, just too far to drive, she drives and meet the buyer or buyers half way. Now that's a breeder that not only loves what she does for a living , but loves and care for their well being, until they get to their forever home. Just my 2 cents. bark@ulater!!!!! manina, miley and max:yorkietal |
I totally agree, the airlines are not perfect, BUT bottom linis the the puppy mills and the health certicates they get from their "Vets" and the people who feel they have to buy puppies from puppy mills are the fault and it will happen again. No one cares especially the breeders, they will get thier money from the airlines NO reputable breeder will ship a dog during the summer and if they must there is now an airline that only ships dogs, all inside nice and protected! Sparklingbluyorkies.com |
I have a friend of mine that is a breeder of small dogs. She refuses to ship for this exact reason. Once the airline has possesion of the puppy, you have no proof of what happens before they get to their destination. She has had several people who are too far to drive and they fly down. She meets them at the airport or they rent a car and come to her home. Yes it does show that they care more about the welfare of their puppies and not the dollar amount being paid. |
So sorry for those poor puppies. puppies that age are to fragile to fly in cargo. Some people make you want to puke. Them poor babies. |
Really? The last time I checked it was over $400.00 for shipping on an airline. I thought the puppymillers hauled them in by the truckload. Why are people in this day and age of information still buying mill dogs? I love the ones who inanely tell you... "I bought my puppy from XXX petstore, but he came ALL THE WAY FROM MISSOURI" He even has papers! Yeah, try to explain it to them and they'll look at you like you are the devil. GRRRRRR |
