That didn't make me sad....it made me ANGRY!!!! Did you see that pup's freakin toe nails? His back leg is so atrophied that he can't even stand on it. I hope those people get everything that they deserve...and NONE of it is good. |
I don't even know what to say. How can people do this do helpless animals! Sick sick people! I pray they will be forever loved and held and spoiled. I will donate. I am sorry that is all I can do for them. |
This is horrifying! Enough to make me have nightmares! If they will let an Okie adopt or our rescue foster, we have some volunteers to make the drive. |
Does anyone know where we can send letters to the judge who will hear the custody case, or to the prosecutor who will decide on charges? They need to know we are MAD and want these people punished to the maximum extent of the law. We need to let them know people from all over the country are watching and expecting them to throw the book at these monsters. |

Those sweet souls. I hope that now they can have some peace. A great big thank you to the HSUS. |
Greene County is prosecuting this horrible people! I live in this area and it makes me sick to my stomach about everything I have seen. The Prosecutor is a very religious man. I believe he will do what is right. Greene County, Missouri - Prosecuting Attorney |

so so sad I feel so bad for the poor dogs and I hope that the people that run this mill get what they have coming to them. But on the same note I dont understand why they are not regulated better. It up set me that the officer said people shouldnt buy from the newpaper. Not everyone is a puppy mill I would not have my sweet babies had I not answered an ad. I love all my Yorkies like my children sometime more they dont talk back. But i hate when things like this happens and they put everyone that raises dog is the same catagory with them. |
This both saddens and angers me at the same time. All those pitiful babies deserve to be loved...and the owners deserve to be punished...big time!!! |
They just said on the news that if you want to adopt one of these Yorkies, call the Humane Society. They didn't say if they were adopting out of state but you can call and ask. Humane Society of Missouri - http://www.hsmo.org |
we talked to them yesterday and OKYR will be taking some of these dogs.. we will most likely be getting the ones in the worst condition physically and mentally!!! everyone pray for us!! 2 of my foster moms have volunteered to drive to St. Louis and get them!!! |

Yes I would think that their eyesight would be jeopardized. I can only speak of our rescue but when his hair was cut he had eye infection in both of them. When he would be outside he had to keep his eyes closed because the light was too strong. Now over three years later he is going blind. I sent an e-mail to Mr. Moore (prosecuting attorney) in Greene county. It certainly can't hurt. Just makes me sick!:animal-pa |

I sent him an email too. I just said I wanted to urge him to prosecute these people to the full extent of the law. I told him that thousands of people who care are watching to see what is going to happen to these monsters. |

Bless those that got these sweet babies out of there |
I spoke to the supervisor of the adoption section at the humane society here in St. Louis and she told me that the plans are pretty much still undecided. She said she can't say for sure but they have not excluded out of state adoptions in the past so she doesn't know why they would with the Yorkies. I told her about YT and she said to have anyone interested to go to the web site. She said they are having problems with the phones today. I asked about lingering health problems with these yorkies and she said it is a good possibility that some will have lifelong health problems. She said there are no puppies, these are all adults. I told her about YT and that I was sure these "yorkie addicts" would provide a good home for these babies and were more than likely already familiar with raising yorkies. She was pleased to hear that so if you want to put in an application you might mention that you are a YT member. |
did you happen to ask her how many yorkies there are? I'm just curious how many of these poor babies had to be put down :( |

Total Yorkshire Terriers taken in was 93; three were in terrible condition and had to be put down. Most of them were bathed and clipped and at least 44 need dentals at a cost of $130-$150.00 per dog. All of the dogs have been signed over to the Humane Society and will be quarantined for about two weeks. Contact Cynde Nason at 314-951-1544 to apply to adopt. None of the dogs have shown any aggression but they were not happy about being bathed and clipped but that is understandable since they have probably never been groomed before. Donations may be sent to: HUMANE SOCIETY OF ST. LOUIS 1201 MACKLIND AVENUE ST. LOUIS, MO 63110 ... specify for the February 13th Yorkshire Terriers. |
Wow.... I rarely venture into the news section and just saw this through a link on another thread. Yorkiesmiles, thank you so much for posting this. It made me feel sick and furious reading it but so thankful to the humane society for putting an end to torture and cruelty of those poor babies. It's so heart wrenching to read the graphic details but it's so important we all know what the reality is. Now that I'm on the news forum I see there are a few more threads I need to read. |
Thanks for posting! Quote:
You have to wonder how some people can be so cruel:mad: |
I couldn't NOT do something about this. Please see my post on the Yorkie Products forum ("New Fun Yorkie Book.... etc") for my personal plan of action. I'm hoping to raise at least $300 for the medical care of these innocents. Carol (not-so- proud Missouri resident) |

I want a Yorkie If someone on here lives in Massachusetts I am really looking for a yorkie puppy/dog. I would love to rescue one or adopt a younger dog. I honestly would prefer to rescue a one in a shelter or buy one a breeder is going to retire and is looking for a home for. Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, I am now cancer free however the after effects will have me home for the next 6-8 months and after I will work from home, being sick and a bit week I would love to have a yorkie, I have heard that they make wonderful pets and are very loyal. Due to alot of pelvic radiation I cant have a large dog or one that will pull on a leash, I do take daily walks but I am need to rest some too. My daugthers are older and have thier own lives now and I feel this is the best time to have a companion. If anyone knows of anyone looking to rehome a yorkie in Massachusetts please message me here. Again I am not looking for a freebee I would just really prefer to rescue a pet. Thanks Jeannie |

Just wanted to add a bit more info I found, especially for those living in Missouri: ADVOCACY Contact your state legislator and let them know you are concerned about the issue of puppy mills in your area. Click here to find your legislator Humane Society of Missouri - http://www.hsmo.org: Animal-Related Legislation. If you live in Missouri you can also get involved through the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation. --------- Over the years, being an Iowan, I have jokingly called/pronounced Missouri "Misery" -- well this is Misery for these poor dogs in Missouri. How I would like to see the puppy mills shut down in Missouri, shut down in Iowa, shut down across the USA! |
