[News] Yorkshire terrier stolen from pet shop Braintree - Police are investigating the theft of a Yorkshire terrier, valued at $800, from Debbie’s Pet Land at the South Shore Plaza, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum. The terrier is described as black and tan with medium length hair. On the evening of Dec. 26, an employee told police that she allowed a man to take the dog into the play area so he could get familiar with it. “A customer later informed the employee that the man walked out of the store with the dog hidden inside a bag,” Jenkins said. The man is described as six feet tall and black. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with some type of pattern on it and jeans. “He is believed to have entered a maroon Toyota Camry with three other black males,” Jenkins said. An area search failed to turn up the suspect or the dog. |

How does Petland determine dog prices? This article says $800 yorkie, I bought mine for $1900? |
about the article... I know bad me for buying a dog at Petland, I didn't know much about puppy mills, I saw that Oprah thing later this year after I made my purchase. I am curious though about the pricing, I know now they are overpriced there but I wonder what makes yorkies $800 in one store and $1900 in another. -- Also about this article, the dogs at Petland are microchipped so if this dude sells or gives this dog to someone and they take it to the vet or the groomer supposedly all vets and groomers are supposed to scan the dogs for microchips and when they do, it will come up stolen and so if all goes as Petland says they should catch this guy or whoever ends up with the dog. |
Prices for Yorkies can vary a great deal, depending on the seller. I'd gladly pay $2,600.00 to $3,000.00 for a really nice healthy pet quality Yorkie from a reputable breeder who has been showing them for years. I'd also want to meet the seller at their home to see the Yorkie parents and how the dogs live and get a really good contract. I'd also feel more comfortable if the seller did a background check on me as well. Stealing Yorkies is common among thieves, so don't let your babies out unless your with them. Carry mace or pepper spray if you walk them and only walk one at a time, two at the very, very most. |

I also think the chances with the micro chipping makes it a good possibility for recovery of this animal. Has anyone ever heard of this method working? |
Sad sad sad.... that could have been some ones best friend. i know my sasha became my best friend and still is. we paid $1000 for her from a friend didnt get a discount thats what all of them were and we didnt get to pick but im happy with thier decision!!!! Also about the micorchip, its a shame that theres no gps in them. I really think there should be some sort of gps in them. It would be a lot easier for mommies and daddies to find them. I know if it were me i would go crazy with out my little sasha. |
Stealing any animal from it's home or caregiver should be on the same level as kidnapping people. I know no one is scared of punishment these days, so why not turn them over to the victims. If he is not caught, pray the dog ends up in a good home. |
MA is the postal code for Massachutes Quote:
MA is the postal code for Massachusetts...it was in the link. |
What a horrible person. I hope there atleast taking good care of the baby. With the economy being as bad as it is I think you're going to see more of this type of thing. |
love my dogs I love all of my dogs and puppies like they are one of my kids .and i like finding my puppies the best home every.i dont know how people can breed and sell them and not care where they go .all people wants is the money and they dont think about the puppy.i think people should sell them for less and make sure they get a good home.i have a female and a male for sell and i dont ask but 500.00 to 650.00 is the most i ask every.some people tells me to ask 1ooo.oo to 2000.00 for my chocolate and tan ones but i ask 650.00 for them to becouse a lot of people cant pay that much.like i said i will take less and get the best home for my puppies |
This's so sad! I really hope they catch this guy or at least find the little pup...poor thing. I paid $450 for my Sasha, but she isn't pure yorkie. She has about 1/4 maltese in her, but looks nothing like one. The breeder I purchased her from was very reputable. She knew what she was doing & was very helpful with giving me tips & information with how to take care of her. It's just a shame that people have to go as far as stealing now to get something they want because they can't afford it. |
wow...if you really think about this...its kinda bittersweet....its horrible the puppy was stolen and who knows what will become of this puppy...so i hope who ever took it gets arrested...but i laugh in the face of petland...they just lost money on a sale of a puppy....i know 2 wrongs don't make a right....so i shouldn't find the bright side of this story...but i did...hopefully the puppy will be found and giving a good home instead of giving back to the pet store. |
Unfortunately when things become valuable and people want them that causes a black market to be made most likely this puppy will be resold to an unsuspecting buyer This is why you need to ask for papers when you buy any dog |
