[News] Yorkie Found Stepping Off Train
 

A HUNT has been launched to find the owner of a runaway dog which took a train alone into Glasgow city-centre.

Stunned rail staff at Argyle Street station discovered the Yorkshire terrier sitting on the platform.

The dog could have travelled miles on one of First Scotrail's low level services.

It is thought she slipped on to a train at an earlier station and her owner could live anywhere between Helensburgh and Lanark.

Just like the Alsatian in the TV series The Littlest Hobo, which arrived in a new town in every episode, she has already made new friends.

A station worker took her home to look after her overnight and then handed her in to a vet in the south side of Glasgow.

Susan McLean, from Pet Vets in Pollokshaws Road, said: "She has obviously been looked after well and is absolutely adorable.

"The worker who handed her in said it would break his wife's heart but he knew it was the right thing to do.

"The dog is so sweet natured and well-trained, I am sure someone is missing her.

"I am convinced she is someone's pet and has just gone out for a wander.

"She must have slipped on to one of the trains unnoticed and ended up at Argyle Street alone."

The terrier is around a year old and in good health.

Veterinary staff have used an electronic chip reading device in a bid to trace the owner but the dog has no ID implant.

Station staff found her on Sunday afternoon around 2.30pm.

She was wearing a collar when she was discovered but it had no contact details on it.

A spokesman for First Scotrail said: "She definitely stepped off a train.
"It sounds unbelievable but a worker at the station found her sitting on the platform.

"Unfortunately, we were unable to establish what direction she came from."

Oh how I hope this little one finds it's owner(s). It not atleast find a loving new home to keep him warm and safe without any further "train rides" again.
