[News] Dying Yorkie Dumped at Roadside 1 Attachment(s) A tiny dog with cancer was left to die at the side of a busy dual carriageway in Worcestershire. The Yorkshire terrier, which has been named Tilly, had been tied inside a sack and left out in the cold on the A449 Hartlebury to Kidderminster road. A sharp-eyed motorist spotted the sack moving and the sick dog was taken to Rosedene Animal Welfare Centre in Walsall where it is being cared for. Staff say Tilly arrived starved, confused and suffering from cold. The nine-year-old terrier is covered in cancerous lumps and even with treatment, is only expected to live for 12 months. Anita Winstone, manager of the Rosedene Centre, told BBC News: "It was heartbreaking to see the condition she was in. "You could feel every bone in her body, her fur was matted beyond belief and her claws were dreadful. "I don't know how long she had been at the side of the road for, but its clear she has not been cared for for a very long time. "If the owners had got her treatment when the tumour started to grow, she would not be in this state. "But the tumour grew and then spread and now its too late." The centre appealed for a new home for Tilly and were overwhelmed by the response they received. Ms Winstone said: "It was such a difficult decision because we had so many calls about her but in the end we went with experience." Tilly's new owners, who live in Dudley, have 25 years' experience with Yorkshire terriers and had a dog with the same cancer symptoms as Tilly. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...cs/4218489.stm |
:( :( |
At least she was rescued and luckily her new owners are giving her a chance now at a happy last few months... |
ok this is a really sad story ...... but GRRRRRRRRRRRR      I absolutly HATE the fact that they say "if she got treatment right away she wouldnt be the way she is"...... this is totally not necessarily true........ My golden when i was little had cancer and we caught it right away and got her treatment for it and it came back WORSE!!!! There is no knowing how the dog would have been if the cancer was removed and i think it is horible of people to make owners feel they are neglectful when it is out of their hands (im not talking about this case, the owner probably was neglectful...... but my family was looked upon that way because of the cancer our dog had).... This is a BIG issue with me because people threatened to call the humane society on us!! the dog itself wasnt in any pain, the cancerous luump just looked really bad, in the end we put her down (i think this was mostly due to the pressure we were under with people accusing us of animal cruelty, when she wasnt even in any pain yet and she was incurrable...... she would have had an extra couple of years at LEAST.......)....... Ok, to go off on a tangent, people can call social services on children now a days for nothing at all.... and people can also call the humane society on you for nothing at all, i think these departments are necessary and i am thankful we have them BUT, i also think that it is wrong that someone who doesnt even know you or the situation/circumstances of occurances between you and youre pet/child should be able to call these places and say "this and this and this is going on and you should get out there"..... regardless of wether or not you are guilty of anything you are still on file with thier systems and are at risk of losing your pet/child if there are any other complaints by other nosy people that dont know anything........ *Deep Breath*......... ok, sorry for my Loooooooooooooooong rant, but it just makes me so mad! |
So sad... it brakes my heart! Orinskie, your puppy is just soooo cute! |
lol.... thanks, i think so too....... but i think im a little biased |
I just hate people who do bad things like that. I am glad her last days are going to be with someone who loves her and will take care of her. |
What a sad story, but at least Tilly's remaining months will be happy ones... |
:( :( :( |

This story really breaks my heart , a chance the ending is better . |

I am happy for her. I know she will be loved for her last few months. I wonder if she was a breeder? |
awwww that's so sad. the last thing an animal (or anything for that matter) needs when it is sick is to be dumped on the side of the road. anything could have happened to her there. :( :( |
Wow thats horrible  how could anyone just dump a sick animal like that for dead. I mean even if they couldn't have afforded a vet, the least they could have done is taken it to the RSPCA so it could have been looked after. I hate people  (well people like that anyway) |

AWWWW! Poor Tilly. When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought it was the same thing that happened a few years ago, and is still happening. The brokers who load up vans with the puppies from the mills and are sending them to pet stores in the East were exposed on National TV some time ago. The drivers were told NOT to try to do anything to save a puppy who became sick during the trip stacked in crates with no ventilation and no way to get away from danger from other puppies-well or sick. They were told to throw the puppies in garbage cans at rest stops, even if they were not dead yet!!! Also, the paperwork was supposedly NOT discarded so it was hard to tell which paper belonged to which puppy. A driver undercover said it happens all the time. Also, millers discard their castoffs after they are bred out.. |
Unbelievable! That is extremely sad. How can ANYONE have the heart to do that to any kind of animal?????? It would take a very cold hearted, very CRUEL person to do so. I am very happy that man cared enough to pick her up and take her to the vet. Some people just don't care at all. I've always wondered why and HOW people just drop of dogs or cats in the middle of no where because they just don't want them anymore, or for WHATEVER reason they do it. This story reminded me of something my mom told me about that happened up in Michigan where she lives. On the news, they had said that someone put a box of puppies (not sure what kind) in the middle of the highway. Just a box of puppies... That is unbelievable! Stories like these BREAK MY HEART! :unlove: :cry8: |
so sad! I was eating my Cheerios when i saw that post,& i was bawling like a baby  now i have a bowl full of tears  Just like i have always said some people just have no conciounce  how can those people, who arent really peole but MONSTERS sleep @ night.. |
:( Poor Tilly |
Aaawww! Poor Tilly. :( But I am happy she was left in good care for her last months. |
That poor poor dog to think she was dieing of cancer, and they dumped her to starve to death. It's a shame they don't catch them. |
I hope every person who has ever done something like this ends up in you know where. If they're not caught in this life ...then I really hope there is an afterlife and that it's just as bad as it's portrayed. They're evil. |
This is such a sad story. My heart goes out to Tilly. How can people be so, so, so, cruel. All I can say is what goes around, comes around, if you know what I mean... |
Ok that made me cry! How could anyone do that ! Heartless but-s! lily |
well that is truly a sad story. Thank god she was found and will at least have some happiness for her remaining time here. |
