[News] The Montgomery County Animal shelter.... to euthanize any remaining rescued pets from Hurricane Ike left today at 5pm!!! The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is in desperate need of your help. Since Ike hit, the shelter has taken in dozens of animals from shelters in the Houston-Galveston area. Now those animals need a home. The animal shelter says these animals usually go to rescue groups, but those groups have also been affected by the storm. Animal shelter officials say if these animals are not adopted or taken by foster families by Friday, the shelter will begin euthanizing the animals. The shelter will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all adoptions are FREE. The shelter is not taking any more animals until power is restored, but it says people continue to abandon their pets outside of the shelter. If you'd like to adopt or foster an animal, you can call the Montgomery County Animal Shelter at 936-442-7738. You can also click on the link below to get more information about the shelter. www.FMCTAS.org - Home Page I’m sure this will be the case all over the Houston area soon. Just a week ago all these pets were in loving homes. Now due to damage, fences down, evacuations and owners being overwhelmed with other life occurrences these animals have no where to go. If you or someone you know is able to foster or adopt any of the animals please strongly consider it today. Many thanks! |
Earlier I was thinking...that I hadn't heard anything about pets down there and hoped that meant good news. Guess not....that is so sad. :( |
