This is the reason you NEVER walk away from a dog you are working on!!! One of the first basic things you learn as a groomer. I hope this groomer and assistant get whats coming to them. "its not going to hurt her business" Cocky if you ask me. I hope every single client of theirs reads the article and leaves. If they were smart they would. I cant beleive the assistant isnt getting fired. SHE KILLED SOMEONES DOG!! |
Well that is so sad for sure. Then to act as if it was nothing. I can't believe how business gets away with this. Seems to me alot of accidents happen at the groomers. Most want them dropped off and that is enough to scare you. No wonder I decided to groom my own. And I don't have to worry what is going on for several long hours. |
I've been grooming Sadie myself for a year now and a sad story like this just confirms that my choice to groom her myself was a wise decision. Nobody watches out for your furbaby the same way that you do!! |
Oh, this is just so sad! Living things cannot be "replaced"-IMO!!!! |
Totally off subject but another group I belong to was discussing this.. Why are customers so rude to their groomer? I deal with so many rude and some just plain mean people and Im treated like a worthless peice of crap. And I probably make more money as a dog groomer then some of them do at whatever job they have Me personally would never be nasty to the person you are entrusting your dogs care to. I personally would never harm a dog but, the stuff you read and see about some groomers alot of them have been seen doing nasty things to your dog. Someone could take it out on your pet if you are nasty to them. |
Omg!!! What a horrible story. We had a similar thing happen locally. The girl who worked for the groomer /border that I use to go to,was drying 2 Pugs in a dryer that the heads are out of this box dryer thing, and she got called into the office and was fired. She obviously left abruptly, and everyone was so surprised over the girl being fired that the poor pugs were sadly "cooked" while their owners were away on vacation. I was ortified. I took my 14 year old there his whole life. I no longer take my dogs anywhere. I'm going to challege myself with Aiden and try to groom him myself. Pongo is easy he's a longhaired Dashund,so he mainly needs dead hair removal nail clipped etc. Wow what does that groomer think...we can be baught. "I'll just give them my insurance money and they can buy a a "replacement" BULL:thumbdown |
Where do I start? Any suggestions as to where I should start to learn how to groom Timi? He has only been once to the groomer, but now I am scared. Also he is developing little knots in his fur. I brush and brush but it is really slow going. Any tips or tricks with this?:aimeeyork |
omg that is heartbreaking! I've always been afraid of stuff like that happening. that poor woman. |
This is devestating. :(:( I'm so glad that we have our groomer. She is a wonderful woman that was reccomended to us by our breeder. She does it out of her home. Tucker's been going to her since he was a baby (and his momma and brother go there too) and we've NEVER had the slightest problem. |

Don't know if this is allowed, but we are having an auction right now and there is a cd that was donated called :How to Groom Your Yorkie at Home: It is by Sue Hentschel. It is a very good cd. I have the same one. It will help you to learn how. Kay & Destiny Yorkies index |

Thanks :) I will contact them!:aimeeyork |
That's been one of my fears. That's exactly why Maxwell looks like he got caught in a blender, because I do him myself. |
How to groom a yorkie Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this? I am a foster mom with united yorkie rescue. I am a full time graduate student and do not have the money to pay for expensive grooming. Thank you!!! |
step by step go to that site recommended by lucyaboo! it's great:) Yorkie Maltese Products and Bows: Grooming Instructions |
That is so very sad. :cry8: I'm so glad I groom all my babies myself! |
I take my yorkie to PetSmart to be groomed (he leaves smelling great and cute as a button) and the first time I went there there was this really nice younger lady that cut & washed him great and was really gentle with him (I watched her during the hair cutting process) and he was jumpy and she did nitch him a few times (not him, but his fur) but other than that, he was happy and so were we. Then, the second time I went there was this really stuckup lady who was really stern, but soothing and rough with him.... Anyway, I noticed a lot of people are saying learn to groom at home or keep a close eye on the groomer...How do I actually become allowed to go to the back room and watch the groomer? Who do I talk with?? And how can I learn to groom at home? My dog's hair is very unmanagable to me, and I have curly/kinky hair (african american) and it's easier to deal with my hair than his. Is it more expensive to groom at home? |
I can't imagine that poor owner happily going to pick-up her dog and finds out she's dead. Horrible! I think that her negligence should be paid as if it was animal cruelty:mad: |

do all oneself. I do all for my yorkies myself too. Safe...... |
That is the most heartbreaking story. I haven't had to worry about it with my groomer but it's tempting to print that out and let her read it just to be aware. My groomer won't even answer the phone while she's grooming she let's the machine pick up and calls back later. This really freaks me out  ! |
What a horrible story. I had to try quite a few groomers before I found one that I feel comfortable with. |
This is so sad. How heart breaking for that owner. |
This makes me sick! No remorse, just throw money at them! And, oh yeah: the insurance will pay for 'something'. I hope, this will affect her business in the worst way. I just can't see anybody who loves their dog take them to this particular groomer after hearing this story on the news. If they still do....well I guess they don't care about the safety of their dog too much :thumbdown I've never watched my groomer, but Walker always seems happy to go there, he looks great when she's done and she even gives him a report card, so I know how he did. She also came highly recommended and I do trust her. But there are some scarry people with clippers out there, guys!!! |
This is heartbreaking. Bailey went to the groomer last Thursday. I dropped her off at 9 in the morning and she wasn't ready to be picked up til 3 in the afternoon. Meanwhile, I read a blog about what goes on at the groomers. I'm not saying all groomers. The blog asked "would you leave your child in someone's care all day without a surprise visit?" I don't understand why they have to keep the dog all day. Can't they schedule the appointments like our hair salons? 6 hours is a long time without being taken out to pee. Next grooming is going to take place at Petco where I can wait there while she is being groomed. If that doesn't work out, I'll find someone to come to my home. |
This is very sad for both owner of the pet and the business . I would love to learn how to groom this little guy . Is 3 months old too young for a grooming or a bath ?? If not , what should I use to bathe him and trim where ? His eyes do leak a bit and I have ordered something called 'Angel Eyes ' . Learning from all of you !! |
My friend's shih tzu was left on a grooming table at petsmart unattended. He jumped off and it snapped his neck, killing him. Sadly, this is not limited any one grooming area. People should know better....This sickens me.. |
:unlove: I have no words. This is just senseless:cry: |
how did you learn to groom your own Yorkie? I have been looking for classes and they all want thousands of dollars |
