[News] New Yorkie Friend Helps Ease The Pain 1 Attachment(s) A MUM who watched in horror with her two young daughters as their beloved pet dog was mauled to death by another dog has told the Guardian how they are moving on with the help of a new friend. Linda Hudson and her two daughters Jessica, eight, and Kerry, nine, watched in horror as their Yorkshire terrier Purdy was killed by a Staffordshire terrier while they were out walking around the Higham Hill recreation ground, Walthamstow, last August. Both girls were very distressed by the attack and Jessica suffered repeated nightmares. Ms Hudson felt the time was right to buy a new pet for the family and has obtained Chad, a male dog of the same breed. She said: "Rather than bang our heads against the wall and sit around waiting for reasons, I thought it was time to get on with our lives. "I've recently given up smoking so I have some extra money dogs aren't cheap. "The girls are really happy and have really taken to him, but we couldn't replace our Purdy. "I would like to thank everyone at Oak Hill Veterinary Surgery, Woodford Green. They were absolutely fantastic. They looked after Purdy for us and took care of the burial." The park was full of children when the attack took place and Ms Hudson was covered in blood after trying to stop the bull terrier from killing her pet. A Higham Hill resident claimed at the time that the same dog had also killed her cat. The owner of the dog involved told the Guardian at the time that the dog had been put down. http://www.walthamforestguardian.co....e_the_pain.php |
How sad about the original yorkie Purdy! But that pic of the new puppy licking the kids is adorable! |
Oh how awful so many children saw that happen! I think I'd lay the smack down on any size dog if they attacked my Luca Dean. I am glad the children have a new yorkie ... it's looks like they made a sound decision in their case. |
We are staying an a really lovely RV park here in Florida. However, because of the devastating hurricanes in Florida this year, FEMA, the government agency, rented about 20 campsites and put 32' camping trailers on them. They are now occupied by people who "lost" their homes. They will stay in these brand new trailers at this top notch park (with heated swimming pool, spa, cable TV, and other amenities) for 18 months at taxpayer expense (we are paying $550 a month for our campsite)! And let me tell you, since most of these people are on welfare and unemployed and have never had such lovely living quarters, they are in no hurry to move and most are thrilled to be here. Most are also very nice and tidy and very enjoyable. However, there are a few that are not so nice. Last week the police were called when a man living in a FEMA trailer, in full view of his children and other guests here, beat the family puppy with a CLAW HAMMER because it was barking! The puppy is now in custody of animal control's vet and will live, but is seriously injured. The man was handcuffed and taken off to jail. I don't know if he's back here yet, but I sure hope he is OUTTA HERE! I didn't witness this, thank God, because I probably would have attacked him then and there and he would have killed me....... |
OMG! I can't believe this man had the audacity to do this in full view of all ... musta been intoxicated. I hope so anyway, although it doesn't lessen the severity of the crime. My fiance's dad had to represent a client of this nature before -- he had tortured/burned cats though. Colin's dad was appointed to this man and really wasn't willing to do it. I think he was talked into pleading guilty though. I detest people like this. |
