[News] Elderly Yorkie Attacked by Gang Hilltown, UK - Police are hunting a "sick" gang who beat an elderly dog and left her for dead in Dundee. Yorkshire terrier Kelly was being walked by her owner, who has not been identified, in Hilltown on Monday at 0320 BST when three men chased them. The dog's male owner managed to get to safety but 14-year-old Kelly had not followed and was badly beaten. A police spokeswoman said Kelly's owner was very upset as he had cared for her since she was only weeks old. Tayside Police has appealed for witnesses and said the three men, thought to be in their 20s, were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack. A spokeswoman said the dog was in "a very bad way" after receiving several blows to her head and body. "Her owner is understandably very upset and he has had Kelly since she was four weeks old. She is a great companion to him," the spokeswoman said. "The men responsible for this brutal and unprovoked attack are truly sick. They should be utterly disgusted with their behaviour." The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said it was an "appalling and cowardly attack". A spokeswoman added: "There will be someone, somewhere who knows who did this and they should pick up the phone. "Even if the poor dog recovers, it will probably never be the same. "This attack is sheer mindless violence and whoever did this should be thoroughly disgusted with themselves, it is beyond contempt." Police are studying CCTV footage taken from the area in an effort to identify the attackers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/4672721.stm |
This disgusts me. These men should be found and beat down. Poor yorkie. I hope that it makes it. :( |
Why didn't the owner pick the dog up or why wasn't the dog on a leash? Somethinig doesn't add up, here. I don't care if Satan himself is chasing me. I would NEVER leave Otis behind. |
It makes me so sick to read things like this. It just makes me wonder why? It's bully syndrome...I don't like my life so I will make yours worse so mine seems not so bad. That poor pup wasn't asking for trouble, just living it's wonderful little life. I hope she makes a full recovery, and I hope the perps are found and prosecuted. |

I agree 100%....it was his job to keep his dog safe. |
Things like this make me so made. I would personally like to 'deal' with the idots who have some esteem problems and took it out on this poor baby. |
omg, how could ANYone even think of raising a hand to such a little thing as a yorkie, I don't care if they are drunk or not, there is no reason to hit let alone beat an animal, let alone one who is so small and defenseless. my prayers go out to this gentleman and his companion, i hope they both are okay and recover together from this. I hope someone finds these people who did it and gives them "what for"... that just makes me cry to think of it. |
Amazing !!! This is really sick, I hope they find these guys and knock some sense into them. |
Totally disgusting. People like his make me sick! I hope that poor Yorkie recovers! |
1 Attachment(s) UPDATE: --- The owner of an elderly dog left close to death after a brutal attack in Dundee today said he was overjoyed that she has made a good recovery and has now returned home, writes Graeme Strachan. Harry Inglis (54) said he believed his 14-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Kelly, would die as a result of the beating by a drunken yob in the early hours of Monday. “I thought she was going die,” said Mr Inglis. “She was in a very bad way and the way the vet was speaking, there was no chance because of the nature of the attack and her age. “The vet didn’t give me much hope, but I went up at lunchtime yesterday and Kelly had regained consciousness. “She recognised me and started wagging her tail. “I’ve had Kelly since she was a puppy. It was really emotional.” Mr Inglis was walking Kelly in the grassy area between McDonald Street and Hilltown Terrace around 3.20am, when he became aware of three men walking up Hilltown. One man started to chase him, and, while he managed to take cover in a close, Kelly did not follow and was badly beaten. Mr Inglis today spoke for the first time about the ordeal. Contrary to a police statement issued yesterday, Mr Inglis said only one of the three men walking up the Hilltown was responsible for the attack. He called on the other two men to come forward and talk to police. “I’d like them to come forward and tell police who their so-called friend is,” he said. “How could anyone do that to an animal? If it was a friend of mine who did that to a defenceless animal, I can assure you they wouldn’t be a friend of mine for much longer.” Mr Inglis said he became aware that one of the men, under the influence of alcohol, was chanting racist abuse on the other side of the road from him. Close to home, Mr Inglis kept walking, but the man shouted across and asked him if he liked foreigners. “I said I didn’t have a problem with them,” said Mr Inglis. The man then ran after him. “I ran off and thought the dog followed me. I ran into the house and shut the door. “I saw the dog lying in the street. One of the neighbours downstairs phoned the vet. “I was in total shock. I was terrified. Kelly had to go straight to the vet. “I thought she was dying. I’ve had Kelly for 14 years. She’s part of the family. “If I’d lost her, I don’t know what I’d have done. I’m just so glad she’s going to be okay.” Police officers are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify the three men. All in their early 20s, two are said to be of stocky build and the other of slim build. http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/ou...7328962t0.shtm |
Why the F*** do people beat up little dogs? people like these should be admitted in an insane asylum |

Beaten dog Just pathetic...Animals some people. |
best wishes Best wishes to Kelly and hope she makes a speedy recovery. Unfortunately this is what it is like in lawless Britain today. Violent "yobs" do these terrible things because they know very well that even if they are brought to justice they will only get a very mild sentence or a slap on the wrist, or in some cases a holiday and some CDs of their choice and I'm not joking! Britain is no longer a tough country on crime and disorder so it comes as no surprise to hear of crimes like this, we need the government to get tough with these mindless thugs and make them pay for their crimes properly, until they do, these crimes and others will just be another statistic. I've watched the animal programmes on TV from America, we get them on our satellite channels, I'm impressed to see how seriously they take animal abuse and the consequences people face if they are harming animals in any way. In Britain our laws in my opinion are too relaxed and animals are suffering for it. |
That is so sad.. I am crying here.. I hate people that hurt animals.. They disgust me |
