Wet/Canned vs. Dry My 11 1/2 week old baby hardly eats any food. We have had him for almost a week now. I've been feeding him Solid Gold kibble (lamb and brown rice), and he doesn't seem to like it, even when I moisten it. However, when I added wet canned food, he loved it. I tried mixing the two, and he licks the wet food and leaves the dry. Does he have to eat dry food? Or should I give him whatever he'll eat to keep his blood sugar level up? |
I think canned food is a lot better to feed them than dry food. I wrote more on your thread in the general section |
From anything that I've learned, they do need dry kibble to keep their teeth strong and clean. I've also heard that is a myth, so hopefully, you'll get several opinions here. But you might try to get some samples of different dry foods to see if you can find one he likes. There are also some "sauces" that can be added to the dry kibble that may entice him more. However, he may just lick that off as well. Let's see if we can get you some more opinions................... |

I don't believe dry food is really much better for their teeth. It would be like eating a cracker/cookie and expecting it to keep your teeth clean. Brushing teeth is essential no matter what you feed them to keep teeth clean |
I prefer canned food over dry. It is less processed. Dry food doesn't necessarily clean teeth anyway. |
The most important factor is the quality of the diet as opposed to the form it comes in. However if we were to compare a kibble and a canned food of the same quality then the canned would be better IMO as canned is far less processed. Kibble doesen't clean their teeth, if you ate nothing but cookies, would you still brush your teeth? |
