Teaching my pup not to bark so much Any tips on how to teach a new puppy (10weeks) not to bark so much? When I put him to bed in his playpen he cries and thenn barks VERY loud for about 40mins straight. I've tried, let him fall asleep first with me on the couch and putting him in his pen sleepy AND playing with him until he's woren out...BUT this does not work. Feeding him before putting him to bed, doesn't work either =\ PLEASE help. I live in an apt and I am worried about what the neighbors might think. |
You might try putting a heating pad in there or a ticking clock. It will get better the more consistant you are but will your neighbors last is the question. Some people say to cover up the kennel so that its really dark but I have never tried that one. Also if all else fails try spraying him with water and saying no. This did work well for me. |
yea, we tried the ticking clock and a warm bottle of water and putting the cover on and spraying him, but nothing works =\ I think he gets tooo lonely |

Big benny, I had same trouble with Buddy he yelped barked and cried for ages at night, i couldnt stand leaving him to cry plus was keeping the whole family awake, I was advised to put his bed into our bedroom so that he knows someone is close and he's not on his own, some pups seem to need a 'real' person near them and the ticking clock, water bottle etc just dont do it for them! He's very young aswell only 10 weeks, buddy was under 7 weeks when we got in and i think too young to left alone. Saying that... Buddy now sleeps on the bed! either at the bottom or curled up on the pillow next to my head! But he has never peed or pood in our bedroom, i think he sees the whole room as his bed area and so wont 'dirty' it. good luck |
