I used spray and bushed - but she was very difficult. Never saw really any tartar. She did have one loose tooth and one small one fell out which I had previously pointed out to the Vet as being loose.
The Vet didn't reccommend a cleaning until age 6 which was late. She was a bit negligent, but that's another story.
Here's what I've noticed:
Rawhide and bullies are the best. We took Fran off them when she didn't tolerate one well and threw it up. I think this contributed.
Another thing I haven't seen brough up until this thread it. Frank loves cloth toys - we should have bought stock in Boodha Porcupines! They look like baby yorkies bty. I disagree that cloth toys "act like floss" as my vet said years back. Actually in Yorkies they act like food and the cloth gets stuck in the teeth causing bacteria and stinky breath. I have not see this pointed out before - but after my expericene I believe it to be true. In larger breeds it may act like floss but in Yorkies it get stuck making the dental issues worse.
