tomatoes?? hi, just wondering if tomaties are alright for my babies? thanks x |
They are pretty acidic, so maybe try just a bit at first - but they should be fine otherwise. |
Technically they are on the list of foods not to give. |
ok thanks. i did give them a tiny piece each when i was chopping up one for myself. they seemed to like it but dont want to give them anything thats not good for them.:) |
|
thankyou that is great. i have saved it for future use. |
I have heard both that they are good, and I have heard bad....so i just stay away to be safe :) |

Keely eats tomatoes all the time. She freaks out if we are cutting one up and do not give her some. Same goes for green beans which is probably her favorite. Every two or three I snap the ends off of I have to give her one or else she will not leave me alone. Our vet said it is a trial and error type thing, but they are perfectly fine to give them and won't harm them. The worst thing that could happen would be a little bit of loose stool, but that's about it. Hope that helps. |
Thankyou for all your replies. it is just bella and mickey are such a pair of little moochers when there is food going about. great to know what is ok and what is not cos it is a worry as they would eat anything some of what isnt good for them:rolleyes: |
I feed mine some ripe grape tomatoes-just 1 small one a day. He totally loves it. According to this website, ripe tomato is okay for them, just not the stem, etc etc. Please refer: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in654043.shtml |

I've also heard that the actual ripe tomato is okay, but green tomatos and the leaves, stem, stalk, etc., are what is poisonous. Mine have had pieces of tomatoes, I just don't give them a bunch...:) |
