I'm Nervous HELP please Tomorrow as you all know I will bring home my Yorkie Baby. I do not want to repeat my mistake that I made with this puppy I have. So please tell me what to do about the eating. The breeder will give food to last a week or so but I probably wont keep him on it. How do I change him to eating either the royal canin kibbles or kibbles mixed with my meat porridge or meat porridge alone? is there a way that is best to do without him stopping eating like my current puppy did, where I wounded up syringe feeding for many many long weeks? Remember he will be nearly 4 months |
If you are planning to feed kibble then there is no need to mix anything else in with it, this could cause more harm than good as it will un-balance it. Decide what you want to feed him (wether that be kibble, wet food, raw or homecooked) and stick with it. Switch him over to it gradually over the period of about a week however when switching do not mix any raw or homecooked stuff with the kibble, feed them at seperate meals. Feed him at least 3 times a day, put the food down and after 20 minutes pick it up. Leave water down at all times. Good luck and post pics! |
You need to mix the new food in slowly. He'll probably land up liking it a lot better, and I don't forsee a problem unless you try to rush it. |

1/2 cup baby rice cereal 1/2 cup goats milk 1/2 jar baby food meat (i used chicken and beef) 1/2 tsp of karo syrup (good for blood sugar) sometimes i add Wellness soft food for puppies i crushed up Wellness kibbles and added more and more gradually i also added a finger full of nuristat i fed this to him whenever he was hungry and as he is getting older he is eating whole kibbles (soft and hard) for breakfast and lunch but for snacks and dinner i still feed him this recipe. he is 9.5 weeks old now. i got the recipe from a woman on here and she absolutely saved my puppy because he did not want to eat anything else. |
