2nd yorkie My male yorkie is 11 months old and loves other dogs. We are thinking of getting him a yorkie brother or sister. Can those of you with 2 yorkies tell me if you find it easy to manage 2 dogs?:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
I think the only thing "hard" about it for me was going back to the non-potty-trained stuff - like putting up all kinds of barriers in the house, dealing w/ pee stains etc... |
Mine were only one month apart in age so I trained them together. I enjoy having two and eventually plan on getting a 3rd. I am waiting on just the right pup though |
It's more work, but it's so worth it to me.:) |
2nd yorkie I've got three. my oldest is 11yrs, then an 8yr. old and third is our puppy-mill rescue whom we've had now for over two years. Housetraining is never any fun but then you know what they say, yorkies are like chips you can't have just one. And they'll be company for each other when you have to leave them alone.:animal-pa |
2 Yorkies I waited a long time (12 years) before adding a second Yorkie. I was always concerned about my boy not liking the addition. But I finally decided to take the plunge after falling in love with my Gia upon laying eyes on her. So I got her at 12 weeks of age earlier this year and after a long adjusting period, they truly have become "siblings". They rarely fight. They love cuddling together and play all day! She learns a lot from the older one and he hasn't played so much in years! It's double the cost for food, Vet care, shampoos, clothes etc. The initial cost was considerable as a new puppy needs all new stuff of course! It's also double the work. To comb/bathe/brush teeth/clip nails/dry off and comb again takes me around two hours now. Walking two at the same time took some getting used to. Traveling with two instead of one is more inconvenient now and finding a babysitter willing to take on 2 is also a challenge. But I wouldn't trade it for the world and I'm thinking about a third as well! Just like Wylie's mom said, the whole training period all over again was hard work but also very fun! Maybe you can offer to babysit somebody's Yorkie for a few days and see for yourself if you like it!:) |
Go For It!!! Go for it - your baby is young & will adapt to a puppy very easily. I have 4 Yorkies ages ranging from 7 mths to 2 1/2 yrs old. It's all worth it in the long run!!! I get 4 times as many hugs & kisses!!! |
