Dream Coat?? Has anyone used "Dream Coat" Food Supplement for their furbabies? It says it is a liquid Food Supplement that says to be pure oils, supplying all the essential fatty acids needed to create a full, lustrous shiny coat and smooth, healthier skin. Moose seems to be itching/scratching a lot. I have checked him for fleas...and no fleas. The lady at the pet boutique recommend this. What do you think? I can list ingredients if needed. Thanks a bunch, Linda :animal-pa |
I haven't tried it myself yet but I was told be a show breeder that it is what she uses to have the glorious show coats she has. She swears by it. |
Do you mix it in their foods, and where do you get it? |
Quote:
1/2 tsp mixed on food once daily for dog 2-11 lbs. Moose is almost 12 lbs. She told me to start with 1/2 tsp for a week then go up to 1 tsp. |
It has soybean oil, wheatgerm oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, garlic oil, cod liver oil, and Anise. It also has vit A,D,E and omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. |
I googled it and came up with several places that sell it. it is a supplement. |
Linda - call your vet and read to him the ingredients, etc., and see if he says OK for Moose to take...I'm sure it is but to be on the safe side what could it hurt to call him. Puppy kisses from Izzy to Moose.:D |
I'm trying Dream Coat here,, the girls LOVE it,, we're half way thru a 16 oz bottle and so far i see no decerable difference,, aside from the smell of it they get on them,, but i'm thinking it will take longer for it to really show itself in their coat,, heres hoping!!:) |
Hello! :D I'm not the biggest fan of this bc it contains allergens - so, while trying to give a beautiful coat, you could be doing just the oppositve. It contains flax, which is a grain derivative - many dogs cannot convert it, so not only do they get no fatty acids from it, but it also then makes them itchy. Also contains soy, wheatgerm etcetera - so just beware. If you're looking for a coat booster (fatty acids) I'd recommend a pure fish oil w/ vitamin E like Eicosaderm from www.vetamerica.com. :D |
I have not used it but a friend of mine has. She had an older cat who got sick - multiple problems. Then the cat started losing chunks of hair - she was going bald. :( The vet said it was irreversible. My friend would not give up and she found Dream Coat on the web and gave it to her cat. Within weeks, the cat had a wonderful coat of fur again. So, there must be something good in if the vet said nothing could be done and a simple supplement did the trick. |
