My Vet Flipped Out on Me!! .......but it was a good thing......since I had to take Truffles for neuter I had Millee get her 3yr rabies.....he looked her over and when he found out she turns 9 yrs Nov 4th he could not believe it....he kept saying what great shape she was in, her coat, her skin, her energy....then when he saw her teeth he flipped even more....he said SHE DOESN"T NEED A DENTAL......keep doing what you're doing.........she's been on RAW diet since 2 1/2 yrs....would be better if she started it as a pup but just goes to show you can make up for lost time.......... |

......nov 4 b'day ...sevengirl!!...happy birthday in advance....I guess I'm more excited than proud....I always hoped millee would last a long long time, not just because I want her to be w me forever, but so others could see the results of the raw diet ....so this was really really good news to me........milllee hadn't been to the vet in 5 yrs til yesterday....she is not perfect by any means(although of course she is to me).....bow legged and dark coat....could never be a show dog ...but she's my little guinea pig as far as testing out healthier ways of feeding....I would love to hear from others about any health experiences with dogs over 8 years.....esp some testimonies of diets that work.......I used to wonder why barn cats last so long then I realize they probably eat raw on their own....mice, birds, etc.... |

......the funny thing is, I think a lot of people DO know about it ....they're just scared .....I've told so many friends and still they do what they have always done and I watch them go through the heartbreak and massive vet bills........but I still try to ecucate people one by one....I take millee wherever I go and if we get into a conversation about it then I tell them....I think if people actually see for themselves the results then maybe that will get them thinking.......when millee was 4 we both flew to Seattle on my birthday for a seminar on RAWMEATYBONES where we met Dr Tom Lonsdale......even though we had been doing raw for awhile it was such an eye opener....I bought the first book then and I recently got the latest one .....the first is very detailed and involved but fascinating.....the second is a quick read and simple ways of feeding raw..........I see you are from the UK.....are Europeans more open to this??? |

I've only been to France and loved it cause you can take your poochies anywhere....here is Millee having her daily capuccino (sp?) in Paris............. |
Thats a really sweet picture :) Nope unfortunately you can't take dogs in restaurants here. I love seeing dogs sat at the tables with their families in France. |

that's so true Lacy.........I remember when I first got Millee and everyone would tell me horror stories about how I would have to get her teeth cleaned by a vet every year because she was a yorkie!............Lara...when I was w a group in France the first restaurant we went to the waitress waited on Millee first....when I ordered some meat they brought it out cooked.....I tried to explain she couldn't have it that way and all of a sudden there was a small crowd of employees around us including the chef.........he was so upset wondering why we didn't want what he prepared ....when he finally understood "raw" he threw his hands up and said "AH!!" and ran into the kitchen and came out w a beautiful plate of steak tartar.......the waitresses brought water and a little toy for her.........my group still talks about it....it was so darn funny ......... |

.....one little note regarding the teeth....the two teeth you DO have to give a little extra care to are the two long teeth towards the front on the side...not sure what they're called but you know the vampire teeth............this is because in the wild dogs killed their own prey and those were the two major teeth they used for puncturing and killing....the front teeth get a workout when they pull the meat off the bone, the side and back teeth get a workout from the pulverizing and crunching..........so since the only thing they are not doing is killing their own prey then those are the two that may need some brushing....... |
Raw might be all right for some but not for all due to health issues that require special diet. You are fortunate to have a Yorkie that doesn't require low protein or isn't allergic to beef or poultry,etc. Jessica |
