No Testes Peanut doesn't have any testes (you know shriveled grapes). :( The vet says they are in his abdomen. She wants to wait a month to see if they "show up". I asked if that was better because there would be no reason to nueter him. She says it's worse because they will be maintained at a high temp in the abdomen and can cause cancer.:eek: Has this happened to anyone else?:confused: :confused: :confused: |
this is not as uncommon as you might think. He does in fact have testicles, they just have no descended to where they are suppose to be. How old is he? undescended testicles is called Cryptorchidism. if you google it or even search it here you will find lots of information. it is better to still have him neutered because he runs a higher risk of cancer then an intact male with descended testicles. |
Unfortunatly what the vet is saying is correct, best to have him neutered. They get very hot inside their bodies which makes them far more prone to testicular cancer. |
He is almost 8 months and I do want to nueter him I just asked her because I didn't see them and didn't know how she would do it. She said it would be similar to a spay. She couldn't feel them in his abdomen either. He also only has 5 or 6 adult teeth and all his baby teeth are there except for 2.:confused: :confused: Thanks for the link! |
My friends 4lb. yorkie male's testicles didn't descend either, she waited a whole year before she finally had him neutered (they still weren't down)... she also said it was like a spaying a female as they had to do an incision and go "hunting" for where the testes were located up in the abdomen. My friend's Boston had the same thing. She had him neutered and he's fine and healthy today, at about 18 months old. Undescended testicles are fairly common-in dogs and even in human babies! Many times, they will drop on their own. |
Rusty has the same problem. He is 5 months old, the vet said that we should wait until he is about 6 months and then he will go in and do the surgery:( Although, I'm really nervous about the surgery it sounds like it is the best option. Getting Cancer would be awful and much more expensive then this surgery. |

As mentioned, this is not that uncommon with this breed. And from everything I have learned, it happens more frequently with the smaller Yorkies. We have a small fella and his first didn't drop until 14 months, the second remained up until 17 months.:rolleyes: |
I have a 10 month old little boy that had the same problem.... I was going to wait until he was at least 1 yr old to see if they would drop but he started marking ( raising his leg and marking his territory ) he had been housebroken for 6 months until this... We go Thurs to get his stiches out... (10 days ) the only problem he had was the second day he would not pee..... he pooped but refused to pee... I tried everything... finally about 1:00 I took him to the Emergency Vet and they catherized him..... they said he would not go because he was sore... ( he was taking pain meds ) ..... they drained his bladder ( which was alot for him ) he only weighs 3.5 lbs... the next day I watched him real close and finally around 3:00 Pm he started peeing on his own.... and he has been fine since then.... The vet told me if they havn't dropped or if he couldn't even locate them they probably weren't going to after 6 or 7 months..... even on the tiny ones... I am soooooooooooo glad that is over . |
Rocky had one testicle that didn't drop, we waited until he was almost 11months for it to drop, but it never did. Definitly get your baby nuetered though, you don't want him to get cancer. |
