teething and ears??? Could someone tell me what teething has to do with ears standing upright? From what I've read on some threads here...........they won't stand up until teething is complete? Maggie is 5 months old now and her ears are not up but she hasn't lost all her baby teeth yet either. |
I'm curious to know what the relation is here too. Hopefully somebody will have the answer  |
I have heard it is because all the calcium goes to the teeth when they are still teething . My breeder suggest giving cottage cheese everyday to supplement. I am having the same problem with my new baby. He is 4 months .we have taped and one is up and the other down.sometimes both are up.We tape for 3days take down for 2 days. Good Luck!!!! |
ears Is all the hair been shaved off your yorkies ears? Most of the time when ears dont go up its due to the fact that the weight of the hair brings down the ears. Ears that are already up at the time of teething sometimes go down due to sore muscles when teething. But they usually go back up again. Also, sometimes tape is needed as well as shaving off the hair to stand those ears up. |
Theething can cause the ears to drop:aimeeyork |

They often fly around all over the place during teething. |
Winston's ears are finally going up. they're doing the "one straight up" and "one flopped" thing now, and sometimes they're both up. He's about 7 months old now... I thought they would never go up so I'm happy they finally are ! |
I guess I'll wait another month or so then try taping. Maybe the teething will be completed by then. Still no definite answer as to the connection. |
my Benji is 6 months , lost all his baby teeth, but his bottom "fangs" are still comming in......even shaving his ears - they still flop ....never have stood straight up !!! Maybe after these last teeth come in, then his ears will stand - if not , he will be a floppy yorkie !!! I couldnt bear the tape on his ears - he would go NUTS trying to get it off !!! |
Dogs have cartilidge in there ears and when they're teething the calcium is taken from the cartilidge which makes the ears go down. They usually come back up after teething. |
My yorkie is 10 weeks old. What can I put on his teeth or gums to ease his pain. |
