Petz Life/bad breath Hi all: I am wondering if any one else is experiencing thte same thing....I started using Petz Life instead of the regular dog toothpaste and I have found so far that both my Yorkies have bad breath and it seems that their back molars are not too white. It looks as if they were doing better with the Peridox (not that I like saying that...but?). I am wondering if I ma not using it right. Their teeth are in pretty good shape so I only brush 3x's a week (apporx). Anyone....? Tina |
I use Petzlife, but between brushing with it I use a tarter control dog tooth paste. If the odor persists then maybe a Vet. visit should be in order in case there is some gum disease going on. Have you tried giving a nice beef marrow bone for chewing? They need to chew on bones too. |
My 2 don't really chew that much....but I started giving them the Pixie sticks...are they good enough? They both chew on them GiGi more than Pucci. Tina |
I also give the CET chews after I brush their teeth with the regular doggie toothpaste. Which they love. Are those as good as beef chews. Can you recommend any others....I like to have a variety of dental stuff around for them. Thanks Tina |
Have you tried the Booda Bones? They come in different flavors and they even have spearmint and peppermint for the breath. They have chicken, beef, bacon, cheese and peanut butter flavors. Mine have a few but just won't chew on them, but mine won't chew on anything except a fresh beef marrow bone. Most dogs love to chew on the Booda Bones. |
GiGi will usually chew on almost anything I give her but Pucci is pretty finiky....I just might give the bodas another try......they are good for them. I am not really sure what beef bones are. Tina |
You can buy beef marrow bones in most supermarkets and meat markets. They are generally used for soup. I cut most of the meat off the outside and take out the marrow before giving them to the dogs. They can't splinter or eat the bones at all, but they love chewing on them. :D |
I am afraid that they will swallow bits of them...is there anything else I can get them. GiGi is very aggressive with chewing and she does eat pieces of what ever she chews. Tina |
I give ours bully sticks to chew on -- we also use the petzlife and brush on bath day. Maybe there is a loose tooth creating the bad breath. |
I have heard that others use bully sticks. Are they totally safe as in "digestible". Can you recommend a place to purchase? GiGi did at one time have a looses tooth but her teeth are fine now and so far Pucci has never had to even have a cleaning. GiGi is more prone to bad breath than Pucci. But if I didn't brush for a week they would both be pretty stinky:embar: Thanks Tina |
