Help! Puppy ate cat leftovers.... My four pound thirteen week old puppy, Macy ate a large piece of grizzle- from leftover steak that sat outside overnight that was for my cat. Macy escaped out the door this morning and when my 16 year old daughter brought her back in I noticed she had something in her mouth- I tried to get it out when I felt her swallow. The piece was a little over 1 inch by 1 inch in size. I have read that even a small amount of fat is very bad for her and can cause pancreatic attacks? She has eaten and drank water since then but has not vomited or past any stool. Should I be worried? I feel more jumpy and anxious with her than I did my human babies. Thanks, Jenni |
Guish, I sure don't have an answer for you. I just wanted to welcome you to YT. I guess if you don't notice any change in the puppy it should be ok. You might give your vet a quick call and ask him. let us know what he says. maybe someone else on here has been through the same experience. |
Seems ok this morning.... This morning she is doing fine, she hasn't eaten much but she past a "normal" looking stool. The vet said "their stomachs can handle more than you would think", but from what I have read on here and in books those words don't fit. I have only feed her puppy food no human food up to now because I have been affraid of her vomiting. Thanks for the reply! |
That really doesn't sound big enough to harm her - but it could affect her when she does her business - sometimes if something's too rich or doesn't settle well - they really show signs of it when they poop - but if she's ok today - she'll probably be just fine - I bet SHE thought it was just dee-licious ! |
