Any weight loss ideas besides the obvious? I believe that one of my yorkie babies is a bit overweight. I don't feel like we over feed him, food or treats, and we don't sit and do nothing all of the time. But I do think that he needs to lose a pound or two. I'd guess for his size his ideal weight would be between 6-7 lbs, right now he weighs 8.5 lbs. His little belly is pretty solid and with his short little legs he seems to have a waddle in his walk. He's otherwise healthy and happy, I just worry that his weight might cause problems somewhere down the road. As my question goes...besides the obvious weight loss solutions, does anyone know anything else that might help? |
Have you looked into possibly switching him to a food that has a lower fat content? or possibly trying the senior kind of whatever food you feed him at least until he loses the weight? This might be a possibility for you. |
No medical conditions causing the weight issue? While a high protein source and so not recommended for ill/recovering or elderly dogs, you could look into a green bean diet. Or just look into a better quality of kibble that better suits your dogs needs. (what I would do first) |
