My concern is why has Canidae canned dog food been pulled off all of the online pet food sites indefinitely? Usually where there's smoke, there's fire. We'll just have to wait and see, but until then, I'm switching to Innova. Acetaminophen could distroy our babies' tiny livers. |

What about the dry food? Maybe it is safe?? |
I don't feed any dog food but even if this is just a rumour, I don't think I would be risking it. |
I DIDN'T KNOW THEY PULLED THE CANNED!!!!! What am I supposed to feed Ellie til her other food gets here??? We have no homecooked made up. Are all retailers pulling the canned? |
I am seeing that the canned is being sold. Does someone have a site saying it's not? |
American's pet store is out, canned only. still have the dry on sale |
waggintail selling only the dry food. nautral pets food has the canned, |
If there is something wrong with the food and its hasn't gone public then of course they are not going to tell you if you call and ask. Most companies brief their employees on what to say when information like this comes to light. I would be cautious and suspicious until Canidae comes forward and makes an OFFICIAL announcement saying that the coast is clear. Its really easy to misinform the public and lead them astray bye not providing all the information they have at their disposal and telling people what they want to hear to diffuse the situation. If there is nothing wrong with the food, then of course they will be proud to say that in an official statement to the press. As for a food of choice on this forum, its not my choice and just because everyone else is doing it doesn't meant all others should jump on the bandwagon. |
this link might be helpful. http://www.rateitall.com/i-22100-can...fe-stages.aspx |
That is interesting. Ellie has never eaten the canned and I definately won't let her now. Canidae is one of my favorite dry foods because it seems so balanced. I like the one with the five meats but we have to stick with the chicken and rice because Ellie can't eat lamb. I am very disappointed right now and I really would like to pull the dry Canidae she is eating now but I don't want to overreact to a rumor. Maybe if someone on here feels that it is really not safe you should start a new thread for all the YT members that haven't read this thread in awhile. It has been up for over a week. |
At the time of the 1st recall we just had our schnazuers. My male had diabetes and was on a holistic food. It was important his food and shots were on time and so I called to make sure they were not on the list. I was assured they were not. Well, they were on the list within a week and he passed away on Mother's Day from pancreatis. I can't say for sure the food was the cause but I believe it was. Calling you can't even get a straight answer. Now one of my females has a kidney problem and I have her on Innova which has one of the lowest protein counts. I switched my other female to it too and now with the new yorkie baby, she is also on it and Welliness. I am scared to death of the food and the flea meds. I am afraid with homecooking they may not get the right amount of nutrients they need. Also, someone mentioned raw and there has been a raw food and I can't think of the name of it, has been recalled. It is getting horrible. What is next??? |

You guys, the difference is that these are GOOD companies. If anything was wrong they would tell us. My trainer keeps up on this stuff big time (she is into holistic stuff) and said the Canidae/Innova stuff is unfounded. Those companies made out very well with the recall and someone might have a reason to discredit them. The tylenol was found in ZIPLOCK BAGS of the it, not in an original sealed bag. Canidae said they didn't even manufacture food on the day the lady claimed was stamped on the bag. They finally got it straightened out and I heard the tests came back clear. |
I don't know who you can trust these days, have 3 sick dogs from tennis balls who would have thought that.. |
I do not believe that there has been anything wrong with Canidae products! There is no way that they would lie to people that have inquired about this....can you imagine the liability that they would be taking on?! My fur crew will remain on Canidae/Felidae. :) Tammy |
Wow, I haven't heard of this! My gang has been on Canidae ALS dry food for about 7 months now and have only benefited from it! I used to feed the canned food also, when one wasn't feeling well or needed to take medicine :(. I will keep my eyes open for new info, but will continue to feed Canidae here until I hear more of what's happening or (not) happening. |
Erin, I do agree with you...but. It is hard to discredit the reports about their canned foods having chunks of "things" in it. There are reports of something that looks like bones chip in it. Someone on YT also posted about something in the canned food that looked like big globs of fat or organ meat (not ground properly). I believe that they said Canidae. There is also someone else on YT that found plastic in a snap biscuit. I am no longer comfortable with them. |

Look guys Im going back to my old home town today, I will check the pet shop there that sells this food and also check with my old vet, see if they have had any problems, and if for some reason the pet store over there doesn't have it I will swing by the one in mobile and check them out too, it will be late tonight before I get back but will let you know what I find out. |

Here are a couple links to old threads. I guess more than one person has found plastic in snap biscuits. I thought it was a one time thing but nope. So, we just don't know if there is plastic in the kibble. How can I feed Ellie Canidae under these circumstances? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...lastic+canidae http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...lastic+canidae |

Hey I asked around and found out the reason the cans have been "pulled" is because they are OUT from the recall draining their inventory. They haven't been pulled, they are just backordered. |
