We are going RAW!!!!!!! I'm just so excited!!!! I don't think i knew the options available for raw, but i went to our local dog store - a Healthy Pet Emporium :) and i was talking to the woman who works there about Orijen and how Layla has had a hard time adjusting to the food and she was mentioning that she feeds Hannah (her golden retriever) raw, so i asked her more about it and she lead me to Nature's Variety! I thought raw was feeing raw people meat and we tried that but i just coudlnt' do it! i had read about nature's variety on here but i still didnt' "get it" but she showed me what it was and i just love it!! Layla loves chicken so i wnated the organic chicken, which the store is out of so she will get it next week!!! i'm so excited to be doing this for layla! i know it will take a bit to get her little tummy adjusted but i'm just SO excited!! i had to share :) |

That is so awesome! I just started Kobi on Nature's Variety yesterday as well! I think he's going to do great on it. So far, the potty's been fine, so that's EXCELLENT! Congratulations on switching!! I think it will be a great decision. Oh, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but raw means RAW...it is RAW meat, but there are other things mixed in with it. It is what a dog in "nature" (sorta..) would eat. This is how I understand it anyway... ??? But someone please correct me if I'm wrong..I won't be offended, but glad to hear it :) |
Congratulations on the decision. I am interested in it but can't because I am just too chicken about disease spread in raw meat. |
Thats great! Raw is the best way to feed your dog. I wish we had Natures Variety around here I would try it. I just dont like the thought of giving regular raw meat and bones but that is just me. |

FABULOUS!!!!!! You know you have to keep me updated on how it goes! |
congrats on taking the step into raw. its a wonderful diet and the frozen medallions by nature's variety and Primal make it easy to feed. i have both the primal and NV beef as well as other varieties. the ingredients of primal: Beef, Beef Hearts, Beef Livers, Ground Beef Bones, Organic Kale, Organic Carrots, Organic Yams, Organic Broccoli, Organic Apples, Organic Cranberries, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Parsley, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Kelp, Organic Alfalfa, Salmon Oil, Organic Garlic, Mixed Tocopherols (Source of Vitamin E), Organic Grapefruit Seed Extract. the ingredients of nv beef: Beef, Beef Liver, Raw Ground Beef Bone, Beef Heart, Beef Kidney, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseed, Chicken Eggs, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Olive Oil, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Duck Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, Quail Eggs, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove. i like the primal better because all the veggies are organic and it also looks better then the NV. |
Wow, that's great, Marci!! :) I still can't take that step, and I don't think that I will be able to. I am too afraid of e.coli and salmonella...I know a few dogs who have gotten e.coli, and they're still trying to battle it. But I know going raw is an awesome way to feed dogs!! It's very beneficial for most dogs :) Those of you that feed raw, do you have to clean their faces after they eat? Do they still give you kisses? |

Why would you feed a prepared diet made by who knows who, out of who knows what, instead of preparing what you want her to eat yourself? I think real food, made at home is still the safest and healthiest way to feed! Remember, the dog food isn't regulated, and one company even moved their company to Canada to keep from having to change their recipe which was very questionable. |
