Hair color changed/HELPPPPPPP Hello all, I have 2 yorkies, Koko (female) and Bebe (male). When i first got Bebe he was only 2 months old and he had black fur. Now Bebe is almost 1 yr and his fur is turning grayish, is he having problems? Then i had Koko when she was 9 months old, and she had gold/black fur. now her gold fur is coming out with gray hair. you can see the new hair that's coming out to be gray and the leftovers are gold. Are they lack of nutritions, Health issue, worms or what's wrong with them? Can someone please help? i've been feeding them Nutro (Natural's choice, dry/can) and also feeding them Nutral Cal supplements. |
My grayson started out a pretty black and gold and now he is grey and blonde. They change it happens |

It's all normal. Buddy has changed several times. Yorkie's are like camielions.:D There is no guarantee on their colors. Knowing what both parents colors are is the closest anyone can guess. I am sure they are beautiful. |
color change Its normal fror yorkies to change color as they get older. They are not supposed to stay black. Its not a diet problem. Its just a normal yorkie. |

Mine have changed a lot as they've grown up, and I hear their hair color can change for about 2 years. It's nothing to worry about-it just means they're growing up! |
Mine has changed alot since I first got him, and I love watching the changes and the different colors.:) |
2 Attachment(s) It's perfectly normal...Lucy's color change happened a little more quickly because I had to have her shaved when she was about 3.5 months old. But here is a picture of her before and after being shaved. |
This is normal. Every day, Archie's black hair on his back is getting more and more silver. If I part the hair on his legs, behind and tail, I am amazed at how silver he is underneath. The black hair on his back used to be like coal -- really black with a bluish cast. Now it is much lighter black because there are so many silver hairs coming in. He's 19 months old now, so it can be a long process. The Yorkie "standard" I think calls for them to be tan and "blue" (a bluish silver). |
2 Attachment(s) My info. says that it will take two years for a Yorkie to finally achieve the color he/she is to be. I find this so interesting. Also, I saw this on a post, that if your yorkies eye color is blue/green in a photo he will more than likely be silver and if the eyes show up red in a photo the dog will probably be tan. That's true in the case of my two. Pixie is a rescue who is five now so I don't know what she was like as a puppy but she is mostly tan/red now. Little Rowdy, five months, is going to be silver. Here is photos of both. Pixie on the left, Rowdy on the right. |
