my yorkie doesn't eat! hello everyone, I've got a yorkshire,3 months old.she doesn't like her puppy food at all!she wants our food whatever we have at home.I don't know if it is healthy for her.I don't know what to do.I gave her all different types of puppy food but nothing.well she was eating it at start but after a month she is used to it and don't like it any more.she likes pasta,meat anything we've got.what should I do? |
well there is nothing wrong with feeding your pup people food but i think 3 months is a bit young.. unless someone on here can suggest how to feed a young pup home cooked food. but i think he WILL eat when he gets hungry... but there is nothing wrong with apples.... carrots.... pears.... for a snack every once and a while... or even as a treat every day.. it is a GREAT HEALTHY treat!!! and you will at least know he is eating something :) |
You can feed a young pup home cooked or raw food, after all they aren't weaned onto kibble in the wild. Just do some reasearch into the right nutrients and make sure you supplement. Why not buy a good book on it? |
pasta? I might do more research .I have heard lots of yorkie are allergic to wheat and corn. mine is. I would not ever feed off my plate. it set the tone for more picky eating. You may have to wait it out. Have you tryed boiled skinned chicken and rice? and then add a little kibble.carrots stuff like that. will he eat a few raw veg. There is so much to look out for. I was in the vets for Tede first 6 months around picky eating. pancreatitis fat in people food, and nutro almost killing him. Please keep doing what you are doing ask. and the home feeding is great but. this is like a child now all his nutrition needs are now. Search the old threads on feeding the tips are amazing. We all have some sort of picky eaters come with a yorkie I think. |

hi Hello, My dog Kobe won't eat either :( We went out of town for the weekend and when we came back he didn't want to eat for 2 days and got diarrhea i took him to the vet. and there was nothing wrong with him so they gave him antibiotics and some other medicine This happen about 3 weeks ago; i stop giving him the medicine and now he doesn't want to eat again. i don't know what wrong with him? When I got Zada at 14 weeks old, I fed her ground lamb mixed with brown rice and grated carrots. She also ate scrambled and hard boiled eggs and oatmeal. They can handle it for sure. ;) |
People food is very healthy for dogs, much healthier than most of the kibbles out there... You just need to know what to stay away from...I wouldn't give him food off your plate, as we use too much seasonings and condiments on our food that are not good for them. Stay away from pork, turkey skin, and fatty foods... You can feed healthy foods like skinless chicken, brown rice, all kinds of veggies (steamed or pulverized), fruits (make sure NO seeds), lean ground turkey, lean ground beef, oats cooked in water, cooked sweet potatoes, cooked white potatoes, etc. Just don't add any seasonings to your dogs food. Try to find a good book on homecooking for your dogs. One that I recommend is called Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Health for Dogs and Cats... You also need to add supplements, like calcium...This book should tell you which ones... I like to cook big batches so that I only have to cook every 3-4 weeks for my dogs...I keep out enough for 2 days, and freeze in 2 day portions in freezer bags. On the 2nd day, I take out the next bag to thaw for the next day... Good luck! |
