Flea control As I wrote in my other post my vet found fleas on Bella today. :thumbdown I haven't given her the *revolution stuff that I was given for flea prevention and heart worm yet, the vet recommended adams flea spray to get rid of them. I bought that today and put it on her, we tried to tackle down and crush the few fleas we were able to see too. Anyway, the thought of those little buggers crawling on my baby is giving me the ebbie jebbies. I went and bought some puppy flea shampoo with conditioner at the pet store thinking I would give her a full bath with it before using the revolution to, I didn't feel like the spray was really enough and I would be able to get the shampoo all over her much easier. I don't want to overdose her on flea meds though, would this be just to much? If it isn't could I so it tomorrow? Should I put the revolution stuff on her tomorrow and then wait to use the shampoo for a few days? I'm sorry i'm asking so many questions but she is just so darn tiny I worry tons about her. I haven't made a sig yet but I'm not by any means a new dog owner, just a new tiny dog owner :) |
You can bathe her in Dawn dishwashing liquid and it will kill the fleas and you won't be using too much "flea stuff" on her. |
I do not know what revolution stuff is..But I have been useing Bio Spot it is working and not so expeinsive . Other wise I recommend Frontline that is good stuff. Those fleas will go away |

They gave me a sample of revolution because Bella isn't heavy enough for the heartguard they have and it works for fleas too. Once she is 2lbs she will be on regular heartguard and the flea stuff we use for our other dogs (I can't remember the name right now) Good to know about the Dawn, and it just so happens that I use it so I have some. |
My Mom uses Revolution on her yorkie. Revolution takes care of fleas, mites, heartworms, and intestinal worms. I use Advantage on Lacy. I don't like frontline because it leaves a sticky residue on her hair. I think it would be okay to give her a flea bath first and then wait 24 hours to apply the revolution. I wouldn't use both the flea spray and the revolution though. You might also want to bomb your house for fleas too and/or use Raid Carpet spray. If you still have fleas in your house even after applying revolution (or advantage or frontline) the fleas can still get on your dog and bite - but they will then die. So you really want to try to get rid of the fleas completely. |
Or you can use Borax in your house...Sprinkle it all over your carpets, leave it on there for a day, then vacuum it up and make sure you throw out the vacuum bag. This is supposed to be the most non-toxic way to kill fleas and flea eggs. Also, you can leave the Borax in places like around the edge of the carpet and wall, behind the TV, etc. It supposed to be effective for a long time. |
I use Revolution, and one time I bathed Aub in normal bath soap and then directly put Revolution on him, then I noticed he had fleas. So what I do is I bathe him a few days before I put the Revolution on him. |
