it's a kind of cereal according to this: The millets are a group of small-seeded species of cerealcrops or grains, widely grown around the world for foodfodder. They do not form a taxonomic group, but rather a functional or agronomic one. Their essential similarities are that they are small-seeded grasses grown in difficult production environments. It was millets, rather than rice, that formed important parts of prehistoric diet in Chinese Neolithic and Korean Mumun societies. |
For some reason (which I now, of course, can't remember), I think it is not advised to give large quantities of millet to dogs. If you want to use it now and then, that's ok, but it shouldn't be a main staple. Anyone know why? |

Ok, great! I know you can buy it at any health food store in bulk, which is the cheaper way to go. You can also get it at higher end grocery stores near the rice/split peas. If you need to order online, I have a great store near me that will ship. Just PM me and I'll give you their info. They're pretty reasonable! |
When I used to have a parrot I used to give him fresh millet all the time - you know how Yorkie Yummies is crack for our furbutts??? Well millet is crack for parrots...hehehe...you can get good quality millet at good health food stores or even high end pet stores. |
