hardened eye boogers? is there anyway to pull hardened eye boogers from my pups eyes? maybe rewetting it then pulling it off, or does it need to be snipped off? thanks |
sometimes I use some vasoline to try and soften them up a little and then keep trying to break them up. |
I check the eyes everyday. If there are any there I just pick them off with my fingernail with no problem. |
eyes I can usually just use my fingernails but if they are really hard I rewet with a warm washcloth then comb them out with a flea comb and they come right off |
We use Petgold Tear Stain Remover if they are bad. It works great.:aimeeyork |
HI, Eye burgers have to be done daily here, All 4 of mine get it done first thing when they wake up, I use baby wipes, johnson & johnson if they are bad, other wise just a wipe with your finger should work. good luck:) |
Softening while washing face and then I use a eyelash comb |
I usually pick them off with my fingernails. Even the hardest ones I've managed to pick up. I usually take the hard ones off when she's out of the shower, or when she doesnt need a shower, I use a soaked cotton ball or soak it down, then I use my fingernails. |
I use a plastic fine tooth comb to get them out. If they are soaked with water, i.e. after a bath, they are a breeze to comb out. PS. I LOVE AC!!!! I'm going in two weeks!! Yippee!!! :) |
I use a flea comb also...I've never had to cut them out. A baby wipe or moistened cotton ball should work also...just wash them away. |

wet flea comb |
I wet a cotton ball and wipe the boogies a few times. Let it sit for a minute or two, then use a flea comb and they come right off;) |
I use baby wipes and I check Scruffles' eyes daily. |
We don't seem to have too much of a problem with them, but usually just some warm water and they pull (gently) right out. If they're extra tough, I just keep rewetting them with warm water and they soften back up (kind of a gross conversation, huh?). Reggie doesn't like his eyes messed with at all (he's a Shi Tzu, so he's quite protective of his eyes) but Coby seems to like getting them out, so he's pretty good about it. |
The ears and eyes have a relationship so if there is ear infection then you may see more of this. I use a cotton ball with warm water every morning and it does great unless she has a problem with her ears. The minute I clear but the ear problem that usually clears too (thank heavens haven't had that in a long while) I think the vasoline sounds like a good idea and might at least let it slide down abit where it is easier to work with. |

I've changed to filtered water, but those darn allergies really bother his little eyes. He's not one for me messing with his face much, so the vasoline allows them to soften enough that I can pull them out a little better. |
i pick them off with my finger but coco bites my fingers so that she can eat her boogers she loves eating them its sooo gross so ive learned to be really quick it taking them off and raising my hand up so she cant eat them gross lol |
