Fleas? i notice baby has been scratching alot around his neck and ears i look today and there are alot of scab marks could it be flea bites? is there anything that could prevent him from scratching? help!!~~~~~ |
Is your baby on advantage or frontline, anything like that. If not you should look into it, |
NO HES NOT ON FRONT LINE OR ADVANTAGE....I JUST NOTICED HES BEEM SCRATCHING ALOT AND ALL THE SCAB MARKS AROUND HIS EAR AND NECK...... |
Chances are he has fleas.Go to the vet and get frontline or advantage.I use one every month and never saw a single flea on my yorkies. When you put it on wait a few days for it to soak in the skin before giving your Baby a bath....that's if you plan to bathe him. By the way love the name baby,my male is also name Baby. :D |
flea killer I have had the best luck w/Frontline. During the summer though, I do notice that fleas start returning before my month is up!!! I guess it is typical for South Texas. Summertime is very inviting to our flea population!!! My husband also tells me that if I rotate every 3 months or so from Frontline to Revolution that he thinks I will get better results. I don't know how right he is, but he has said that he notices that after several months of using Frontline on our Weimaraner that the fleas seem to almost be able to withstand it.?.?.? I will see. I am just on my second month of Frontline for the summer and all has been okay. I usually do not have to put it on them during cooler months- flea shampoo does the trick! |
if he is scratching around the neck and ears it could also be ear mites. |
Hi, one of my yorkies penny is regually treated with frontline the same as her sister ruby but still is itching like mad, yet ruby is not, it's as though penny as got extremely sensitive skin, does anyone have this problem with there dogs |
My cat is more sensitive to fleas than my yorkie. Check her for fleas, the Frontline may not be as affective on one as it is on the other. I use a few different flea control methods, but as soon as my cat gets outside the population is replenished inside. If you suspect fleas give her a flea bath and call the vet to make an appointment just in case it's not fleas and it's allergies. A quick test is to put your pet over a moist paper towel and gently scratch their skin. If anything comes off (mainly small black specs) and the specs "melt" red then thats quite possibly "flea dirt" or flea poop. Because the fleas are eating your dog they poop out the blood and it results in the flea dirt being left behind. Fleas are not to be taken lightly, as they can carry diseases and left untreated could result in anemia and death in extreme cases. |
