Pedialyte and Gatorade (Lite) - Help Lucy was at the hospital over the weekend. They got her sugar and hydration back up but she still is very sluggish and not wanting much food or water. Is it okay to give her some Gatorade or pedialyte? Any dangers? |
Plain pedialyte is good |
The Pedialyte is fine to give them. Just FYI, most grocery stores have their own store brand of it, and it's quite a bit cheaper than the Pedialyte brand. They have the same ingredients in them. Did you try some Nutrical too? That might help. Max would eat a whole tube of it if I let him:rolleyes: . |
Layla needed some the other day too and i coudlnt' find the no flavour one... so i got the fruit flavoured and diluted it a bit with water. i also asked at the pharmacy for an eye dropper because i knew she woudln't drink it herself and it was a great way to squirt it in her mouth! |

An eye dropper is a good thing to have! I like to use a small plastic syringe sometimes too (I'm trying to think where you get them if you're not a nurse or medical person).....the 5 cc ones are great for little guys and you can get a little more into them at one time than an eye dropper, but still not gag them. |
I use the small syringe. I saved if from her kennel cough medication. I imagine you can also get them in the pet store for feeding baby birds, etc... |

Saving the syringes when they get medicine is a really good idea though for everyone. I kept any of them that I got too, and just clean them whenever I use them. They really come in handy:) |

That's good to know! I would never have thought of that I don't think. Thank you! |
