bump on his hiney?? should I be concerned?? Kikko has a bump on his hiney .... its like the size of a nickel, its hard, and the size hasn't come down for two days. I was thinking it was a mosquito/spider bite (we have tons of both around where we live). should i be worried? should I take him to the vet? he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, i even poked it. his appetite and energy level are the same. and sorry if i didn't post this in the right forum. |
I'm not exactly sure where you are talking when you say hiney. Is it near his anus or anal glands? If so I would say have him checked. My Bubba had a reputered anal gland earlier this year. I wish I had noticed this earlier because I could have saved him so much pain. Maybe you empty the anal glands yourself - if so do so or have it done I may be over reacting - due to my own circumstances |
hmmm .. you're right i should explain the location better ... its like on his back, along his topline right before his tail and a little to the side. I don't htink its his anal glands, he poops regularly. thanks though for your help. also i think i'll pass on the idea of expressing his anal glands myself. hahaha! ;) |
hmm.. anal glands are right next to their bum. so that doens't sound like it... could be a bite.... is he scratching it?? i'd give it a bit... see if it goes down.. you can put a warm compress on it to bring blood to the area in the event that it is a bruise or bite.. it will help it heal faster.. if you think it might be a bite you can give him benadryl. poor little man. let us know how it goes |
the compress is a good idea, thanks marci. i did take kikko into the vet b/c i was really worried about what it could be. The vet doesn't really know but said that if it doesn't go down or go away in the next couple of days, he wants to do a biopsy to rule out the possibility of it being a tumor :( not exactly the news i wanted to hear. so i'll be watching it like a hawk for the next few days. never would have thought a tumor would have been a possibility. just hoping and praying its not and that it disappear SOON!!! |
How is Kikko doing? Has the bump gone down at all? Praying it goes away & there is no further concern of a tumor or anything similiar |

Is it red or irritated looking as is it started on top of the skin or is it the same color as his skin as if it's a lump under the skin?... |
I'd say it a bite also, But keep watching it. Best of luck to you. |

It could be a fatty tumor which isn't cancerous. I had one, and now my husband has one. Hope all works out. |
oh Camly so sorry it hasn't gone down yet! does it move under the skin or is it attached??? it might be a cyst.... |

a cyst? i didn't think of that .. it moves if that makes sense .. like you could wiggle it with the excess skin. Yorkiekids - what is a fatty tumor? it is an overgrowth of fat cells? what did you do, did you just have it removed with surgery? |
