Benefal Does anyone else feed their furbaby Benefal? He was on Science Diet from pet smart and only weighs 5 pounds, I figured I'd mix it up a little and even though Benefal is not the best dog food out there, he seems to really like it and I mix it in with his science diet. Just curious about what other yorkie owners feed their dogs and if I am doing the right things. He hasn't had any upset stomachs or poops and is very flexible. :aimeeyork |

Before I knew any better, I fed Rudy Beneful. He loved it also. But things I've learned from this site and when we adopted our Shih Tzu, I have since found out, Beneful is not good for our dogs. The adoption lady that I talked to when we adopted our Lucky ( Shih Tzu ) said feeding Beneful would be like us eating at McDonalds every single day of our life. :( ( Don't be too hard on yourself, you didn't know any better, just like me. But you asked a very good question and thru that question your finding out information that will benefit your furbabies.  |
Benefil = Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ~!! you do not want to know what's in some dog foods !! Seriously - there are by-products in it that are just revolting - Read this - it tells you about all the crap mfg's put into much of the commercial food we feed our pets - be ready barf - *sorry* but the by=products are not nice http://www.homevet.com/petcare/foodbook.html There's way better food out there and you can find alot of threads talking about them right on this site - |
I am a new yorkie mommy and Tobie will be 10 months this month so this is all new for me. The breeder we got him from had him on Pro Plan then we switched to science diet and I've been looking at Royal Canin and canidae...looks like i will have to do some more research. |
Beneful is a very bad food from what I have read. Just do a google search and you will come up with all kinds of cases where dogs have gotten extremely sick on this food over time and some have died. Go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com and find a food in the 4 or 5 star category. |

I was behind a guy who had a 25# bag of Beneful in his shopping cart in ShopRite waiting to check out I wanted so much to tell him the bag looks beautiful but there is crap inside but I just could not get up the nerve. Some people don't like being told what to do and other's are thankful you said something. When ever I see that commercial on TV I think of that guy and the huge bag of crap he bought.:( |

A friend of mine feeds this to her Boston...and it REALLY upsets his tummy, but she won't switch from it because she says it's the only thing he'll eat... Sorry to be gross, but he FARTS all the time, has HUGE, loose poops, and has to poop 4-6 times each day. I wouldn't wish these digestive on anyone or any dog! EWWWW! |

I feed Royal Canin, and I'm not even sure if I should feed him that looking at some of these threads...Uno's poop is fine, and he seems to be doing well on it. . . I had no idea (until a few weeks ago) that "chicken by-product" meant EVERY part of the chicken. . . beak, feet, etc. . . Gross!!!! (Reminds me of a dish I was once served in spain...:D ) I know it's hard to not say anything to people when they are buying that stuff, but then I think...If I were in line, and I truly believed I was feeding my dog the right stuff, would I want someone telling me other wise? I would find it hard to not get offended if someone was telling me how to treat/feed my puppy....But that's just me....but I know what you mean... |
