I need a HEALTHY way to put some meat on my little one's bones! Do any of you have recommendations on how to have a puppy gain weight healthily? He is eating dry dog food, so it's not that he isn't eating. I am just scared that he needs to be bigger. Thanks! |
what about healty snacks like fruit? cottage cheese??? mix some wet food in with the dry |
How old is he, how much does he weigh, and how often are you feeding? And, what type of food? You could start w/ small things - make the current food more appetizing: moisten it, sprinkle parmesan on it, add some canned dog food, add a bit of boiled chicken breast ("shred" it first). You could give yogurt, cottage cheese, a bit of tuna here and there, some cheese. |
At the vet two weeks ago, he was 7 months old and 1.3 lbs. Right now he eats Science Diet Lamb and Rice Small Bites (dry), but I am going to change to Canidae I think. I am just so scared of adding things because I don't want to upset his little belly and make him vomit or give him diarrhea. Remember, I am not trying to make him "fat", just get some healthy muscle and mass on his bones! I welcome all suggestions and advice! :D |
Have you tried supplementing with Nutri-Cal? It's a high calorie supplement that is easily accepted by most dogs, and I think that might help. |
I tried Nutri-cal and he doesn't like it. I just bought some Innova EVO small bites that will have more protein and be better for him. Hopefully, it will help him gain good weight/muscle! |
