Anti-itch cream? So, Riley has some kind of bite on his butt (like a chiggar bite) and he's being a major drama king about it  He'll lay down for a bit then run through the house like a crazy dog...like he's trying to get away from whatever is there. He had a bath this morning, his tushy is trimmed (no, it's not razor burn) and there are no clingons...so...the next step is to put something on his little bum to make him feel better. Anyone know what's safe to use? |
Otis does the same thing!! He actually had to be on an antibiotic because he chewed a little sore on it. I've heard if they get a flea bite it can irritate them for 3 weeks. He was treated on friday night and he's still goin at it a little. He's also on hydroxyzine for allergies twice daily. Good Luck!! |
Thanks Paula. Did they give you or mention any cream you could use for the itch? I think Jo had one a few days ago but it cleared up (to the point of not bothering him) in 2 or 3 days...maybe Riley's will do the same. Jo isn't a drama king though...he took it like a man! If Riley's little issue doesn't clear up by tomorrow afternoon I'll run him over the the vet to see what they have to say. Is Neosporin or Hydrocortizone cream o.k. to use? |
Hellooo...anyone? |
Hydrocortizone cream comes in two strengths. The .05 is the lighter one. If I used one I would go with the .05. I would put a small amount only twice a day. He may lick it off, but it will help with itching. |
Thank you...I just wasn't sure what I could use from home that wouldn't make him sick. |

Creams for itchy yorkie 1 Attachment(s) My vet prescribed Triamcino Acetonide 1% for Jack's inflammation and itchys. I was pleased to see it worked.:bravo: No more rash or itchys. This cream has steroid in it for the inflammation, so PLEASE use very little. I used about a pinky nail amount on the area. Poor baby was scratching so bad he ripped out some of his bib and inner neck hairs. We found that he's allergic to wet grass. :confuse8: Go figure? |
