incontenence, kidney infection or what???
 

My 5 year old female Yorkie has lately been weeweeing slightly and a litttle more than slightly in the house. She is trained to go out doors and for the most part always waits till I get home from work to walk her. I always leave a weewee pad down for her and she does use it when she has to. But lately I find that she is wet on her bottom to the extent that when I pick her up her tail (short hair) is wet. She has also done a little more than been damp on my bedding after just changing the sheets(last week) and today in her and my other Yorkie's dog bed (which was just washed the other day). I do walk her in the morning and after work. this in the past has been enough.

I don't know if this is the start or advanced medical problem. And to be honest I am a little afriad to find out. But it is noticeable enough to start to check tings out.

Does this sound like anything that anyone has experienced or is experiencing.

Any info would be appreciated.

I am also now starting to have her go indoors in the evening before we go to bed on her weewee pad in the event that she doesn't think that she should go if we have already gone out (but really has to go but can't hold it or is too lazy to get up and go:confuse2: ).

I just hope she is ok.

I believe that is a long time for them to hold their pee pee. Definitely leave a piddle pad out for her during the day to relieve herself. You seemed concerned enough that perhaps you should make a visit with the vet. Her hormones could also be changing. However, most likely, she just can't hold it for that many hours.

Personally, my dogs relieved themselves in the morning, late afternoon, evening and again before bed. If I wasn't home, then piddle pads were down and trained to use them.

I think you are right I think she needs to go 3x a day esp in the summer cause they drink more water. I will put her in the xpen around 7ish with her weewee pad (she thinks that is the bathroom:D when we are not outdoors).

I think Yorkies need to be let out atleast 4 times a day minimum. If you are leaving pee pads down and she knows to use them and is going on beds and other furniture I would take her to the vet immediately. It might be a UTI which isn't a big deal if treated or hopefully not something worse.

Same as for us.. Urinary Tract Infection....

My baby started doing this and not to worry you, but he has been tested for Cushings disease. The drinking/peeing started in April and just last weekend he ended up in the hospital overnite so that he could be put on IV antibiotics, potassium and electrolytes... He did come home the next day, but he still not back to normal. As I write this I am waiting to hear back from the Vet with the test results from the low dex test and what meds to put my baby on. He has the sadest eye right now... breaks my heart.

I understand what you mean. I would think it is a medical condition if it were a constant thing and "luckily" it is not. Yesterday it seemed like it was becoming more frequent but I put her on her weewee pad last night and she did go even after I had walked her around diner time. She was fine through the night, as usual and is fine all day today.

I agree an infection caught early is much better than waiting but I don't really want to put her through an other vet check up if she doesn't need it. We just had our yearly checkup 3 weeks ago. So I think she has had enough for a while unless she shows additional signs of problem.


The last time something like this happened was during my busy season. It is dead of winter at that time and I don't walk her out doors as much cause she takes so long to go. She would die of frost bite and take Me and Pucci with her. So I think she thinks that we forget about her so to get attention she will go some place where it is noticeable. But I have not had any other problems with her. Wen she recently started wetting I got worried. I think
she just needs to be encouraged to go later in the evenings in addition to during the day.

But I will keep a close watch on her over the next two weeks and if she starts
wetting again I will rush her to the vet for tests. Her tummy is also nice and flat so I don't see any physical changes to her body.

I just love these 2 so much I could never stand the thought of neglecting them. Those peanuts!:)
